*The MJ/Shania/Kenny G rank confusion
MJ ranks at #14 on the list between Kenny G and Shania Twain, according to Chart Watch. However, you probably have noticed that Kenny G is ranked above MJ and Shania with sales less than the other two. That's because Kenny G's number is outdated as there hasn't been a sales update for him since late 2011, unlike MJ and Shania who got more recent sales updates. I can't rank him below MJ and Shania when it was just confirmed by Chart Watch that he ranks higher than MJ, so I ranked him above them, but with lower sales.
Artists that should be on the list, but are not due to extremely outdated receipts
There are some artists that should rank in the top 50, but, due to their very outdated receipts, I did not know in which spot to rank them and with what number. They have surely sold much more than their latest, but outdated, receipts indicate, by now.
- The Rolling Stones' most recent receipt: 25,700,000 (December 2010)
- Brooks & Dunn's most recent receipt: 23,000,000 (December 2010).
- Bruce Springsteen: 21,219,000 (outdated and inaccurate receipt, he has sold more than this).
- Red Hot Chilli Peppers: 20,700,000 (December 2007)
- Bon Jovi's most recent receipt: 19,991,000 (April 2009)
You can also see the list of best-selling artists of the Soundscan era and the list of the best-selling female artists of the Soundscan era.

Wow at both Justin's being 1m away from one another...both slaying somewhat.
Its interesting to see the doubled sales in comparison to women...but both genders buy male albums.

I'm surprised that neither George Michael, Bryan Adams, or the Notorious B.I.G. are not on this list. Poor them
