20. Jenna Maroney (30 Rock)



She's one of the funniest characters in 30 Rock. Stuff like "rural juror" is classic!

19. Nora Walker (Brothers & Sisters)



Brothers & Sisters keeps getting worse, but somehow I still keep watching it. I just love Nora and her obsessing over her children, even though I hate her children more and more.

18. Jack Carter (Eureka)



Eureka is an awesome show but it's hard to pick just one character. What's so strong about the show is that the cast have such great chemistry together. So I decided to just pick the lead of the show, Jack Carter. He's always good for a laugh.

17. Sharon Valerii (Battlestar Galactica)



Sharon Valerii, Sharon Agathon, Boomer, Athena, Cylon Number Eight, whatever you want to call her, is the most awesome character on Battlestar Galactica. Unfortunately this year she didn't have that much to do so that's why she's a little low on my list.

16. Christine Campbell (The New Adventures of Old Christine)



Julia Louis-Dreyfus was awesome on Seinfeld and she's just as awesome in this comedy.

15. The Devil (Reaper)



This show is kind of a guilty pleasure. The best part is definitely the Devil, brilliantly played by Ray Wise.

14. Betty Suarez (Ugly Betty)



Betty rocks. It's nice that Ugly Betty is still a great show even in its third year.

13. Elle Bishop (Heroes)



Heroes keeps getting worse, but thankfully there was Elle to make it a little better. Kristen Bell was great as Veronica Mars but she is even better as Elle.

12. Jack Donaghy (30 Rock)



30 Rock is the only good live action comedy still on television along with Old Christine. Jack is the show's best character.

11. Bree Hodge (Desperate Housewives)



Formerly Bree Van de Kamp, she is still the best character on this show. I am loving almost everything about the current season and can't wait to see what happens next.

Great list idea! Love Kristen, though hate Heroes. Jack is too low. Should be him #2, Liz Lemon #1. Actually this could be a fun list to do on my thing.

Top 20 TV Characters of 2008 | Part 2
10. Toshiko Sato (Torchwood)



Torchwood is one of the best shows on TV. Its second season earlier this year was great, though I feel like it could've been better. It advertises itself as a more mature and edgy version of its parent show Doctor Who, but pretty much everything in season two was suitable for minors. Toshiko's my favorite character, but unfortunately she got killed at the end of the season in a dramatic episode. Season 3 is only five episodes, hopefully it will be awesome, even without Tosh.

9. Orihime Inoue (Bleach)



This year I got addicted to the anime Bleach and watched all episodes in a couple of weeks. Although the show has many great characters, my favorite has got to be Orihime. I love that she is so self-deprecating even though her powers are probably the most awesome of all. Orihime is also known as the "Loituma girl" or the "girl with the leek", a popular internet meme.

8. Roger (American Dad)



I love American Dad, sometimes even more than Family Guy. My favorite characters on the show are the non-human ones, Klaus the goldfish and Roger the alien. Only the latter made it to this list. His sarcasm, lack of care for anything but himself, and general weirdness are a joy to watch.

7. Donna Noble (Doctor Who)



The fourth season of the reinvented sci fi show Doctor Who was my favorite yet, not in the least because of the Doctor's companion Donna Noble. The character could've been very annoying, but magnificent actress and comedian Catherine Tate created someone who was the perfect fit for the Doctor. Donna's tragic end at the end of the season almost brought me to tears.

6. Sylar (Heroes)



I don't think Sylar is very popular these days, but to me he's the only thing that still makes Heroes interesting. This season he seems to have multiple personalities, unable to decide whether he's good, evil, wants to be good or wants to be evil. It's probably the only one of the many inconsistencies in Heroes that doesn't annoy me.

5. Amanda Tanen (Ugly Betty)



Amanda is one of the funniest characters on TV. I think this new development where she becomes Betty's roommate is absolutely hilarious. It will be a source of many great storylines.

4. Eric Cartman (South Park)



South Park is still going strong, and Cartman is as awesome as ever. The best episodes always feature him.

3. The Doctor (Doctor Who)



Doctor Who has become one of my favorite shows, mostly because of David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor, an absolutely compelling character. I always refused to watch the show because I thought British television couldn't be good and that it was cheesy, but I couldn't have been more wrong.

2. Stewie Griffin (Family Guy)



Stewie's funny, witty, crazy, insane. The only infant I could ever love. Without him, Family Guy would be about as good as The Simpsons. That means it would be worse than it is now.

1. Dexter Morgan (Dexter)



Currently the best show on television, Dexter is about a serial killer who only kills those who have killed someone else. I feel like the show keeps getting better, even though the third season has received criticism for straying too much from the formula and allowing soap opera elements into the main story. That doesn't bother me at all, especially considering the other shows I watch. Hopefully it will keep going for many more seasons.

I freaking adore Cartman and Amanda.
