FRIDAY 7 AM: Universal’s small miscreant horror pic The Purge grossed $3.4 million at Thursday 10 PM late shows and Friday midnights from 1,751 theaters. And the budget was only $3M. This is the first movie in the studio’s overall deal with Paranormal Activity producer Jason Blum. One reason for the big number was that social media response to the creative and digital campaign was huge. Starring Ethan Hawke and Game Of Thrones Lena Headey, directed by James DeMonaco (The Negotiator), and produced by Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes, it releases wide today on 2,536 North American theaters. That's really impressive. These low-budget horror movies are so profitable. I think I might see this today.
Pretty much. I'm not sure if this is a good flick but a low budget for a good movie is really respectable considering the bloated mess some budgets are for films that are trash.
Don't waste your money, it's just your run-of-the-mill home invasion flick. The premise had so much potential, but it's pretty much completely squandered on this basic slasher movie.

Why should people trust your opinion when they can have one of their own if they go and see it?
