ATRL Upgrade Suggestions w/ pictures
1. ATRL Upgrade Progress
Well we have had the ATRL beta running for a while we are still tweaking it, and our making some changes. I have purchased the Blog component of Vbulletin and now every member will be able to post there own Blog. In case you are wondering how the blog will look the developer has it on there website you can view by going to this page. The developer has just released one of the final versions of the Beta software and the new version will soon be in our hands, and then we can upgrade it here and let everyone enjoy the new features.
2. Suggestions from ATRL Member
I care about every ones opinion, and find it very useful on how to shape the website. Without you guys the website wouldn't be here, and it wouldn't be anywhere as popular. So I want to know what do you want to see in the next version of ATRL.net. Please keep in mind that the upgrades listed in the Thread 'ATRL maintenance and upgrades' Is already included in the new version and there is no need to post that here. I am looking forward to reading everyone's suggestion and will evaluate each and every one and decide where to go from there.
3. ATRL & Advertisements
In case you haven't noticed that there are ads on the top of every page, well these help me pay for the server each and every month. While they dont cover the whole cost of the server, they provide a nice chunk of the money we need to run the website. After watching the traffic patterns for the past few weeks I have noticed and most people visitng this website are guests, at any one time we usually have more guests online then users. So I have came up with a plan that will promote users to join our forum rather than be anonymous users. First Understand that Normal users (everyone from me to anyone else that is signed in with an account) will only see 2 advertisements. One at the top of every page and one and the bottom of every page. Guests(people without ATRL accounts) will have 1 small ad at the top of every page, 1 big ad at the bottom of the page, and 1 big after the quick reply box, and a big ad after the 1st post of every thread they view. I am still playing with how many per page and where they will go so this could change a little, but shouldn't effect any of you since you are all ATRL members. So remember any registered ATRL member will only see 2 advertisements, one at the top and one at the bottom. ATRL.net will never use Pop-Up advertisements. Why am I telling you this? Because as I have said before I care about everyone's opinion and want to know what you think about this plan. I will constantly check this thread and answer any questions that arise. Thanks in advance everyone and I hope that 2008 will be better than ever for ATRL

This is an Arcade section for iSketch's Forum. Perhaps you know about it, but if you don't, it's a bunch of Minigames (the selection & total number of games all customizable) that the users of the forum can play and have their high scores posted up on leaderboards. It also gives the users trophies when they have 1 or more high scores on the arcade. The trophies are then tallied up and the one with the most gets posted as "Highscore-Champion"
I think this would be a great addition to ATRL forums because it's a whole new level of interactivity that fits well with our theme and age demographic. http://www.ibparcade.com/ Is the official website for it if you want to learn more.

Ahmm, I've been asking this always. Since the ATRL Radio isn't going anywhere, can we just have a playlist under our avatar? Or even just one song? We can get audios from different websites..
I know it's not necessary and only I may like it, but it's not bad if I suggest right? ![:)](http://www.atrl.net/forums/images/smilies/images/smilies/smile.gif) Thanks, and more power to ATRL. ![:)](http://www.atrl.net/forums/images/smilies/images/smilies/smile.gif)

How about a new section or a sub-forum, for posting mp3's singles (new & old), downloading albums (new & old) & videos (such as Music videos, movies,& T.V shows) to put in your iPod like a whole section dedicated to that would be great! instead of you know pming a certian member for an mp3, or posting a useless thread in the Main Music Forum, just for an mp3, you know what I mean? I think if we had whole section dedicated to that would be much better

time for my 2 cents:
we had an "ATRL arcade" for a while in 2005, and it was fun while it lasted, but it's definitely a trend thing -- really popular for about a month, slows down the whole site in the meantime, and then everybody forgets about it. i think it was a good idea for its time, but personally, i don't want to see it return.
also i think it's legally questionable to let people arbitrarily link to songs from their profile or in a sub-forum. that's not gonna fly. maybe if it was a myspace or youtube link, though, it would work.
good ideas though! i don't mean to be a debbie downer about this stuff.

I was thinking about that too, but we have are blogs to introduce ourselves now, you know, but this would have been a good idea, before the blogs launched

that's because they don't know where to intoduce themselves, because their new, & the mods end up moving their post to the blog section. The blog section is like the introduction section in some way.

You raise good points about the arcade section. Site slow-down may be an issue but there are ways of getting around that. First, the amount of games available could be limited to about 3-5 or so games that get changed after a period of months to sustain a level of interest. Awareness could be raised about the donation feature to support increased bandwidth fees.
There are also things we can do that don't involve the arcade at all. An official "Game Night" perhaps one a week or once a month, where we specify a time (probably two times to reflect the different zones) and meet up on external sites like yahoo games or isketch.net.
Whatever the case, I'm mainly just suggesting we should find a way to appeal to new members/guests who've been lurking around without a real reason to be part of the community and at the same time get to know the old ones better.

i absolutely support this idea. it would be a great way to get people involved. as long as we're not taking on the burden of hosting the games ourselves. that's not worth it, imo. but this right here, this is a winner.

I like this idea as well , we have so many guests lurking around, but they don't register to join
