Super Bowl XLVII: 49ers vs. Ravens; Brother vs. Brother
Quote:
(CNN) -- One Harbaugh will win Super Bowl XLVII. Another will lose it.
That much is guaranteed after the San Francisco 49ers, coached by Jim Harbaugh, and the Baltimore Ravens, led by his brother John Harbaugh, beat their respective foes in conference championship games Sunday. Those wins mean the Harbaughs will be the first siblings to face off as head coaches in the NFL's title contest and, in fact, for any major U.S. professional sports championship.
Both teams rallied from halftime deficits on the road to earn berths in the Super Bowl, which will be played February 3 in New Orleans.
Baltimore did it by reeling off 21 straight points to overcome Tom Brady and the New England Patriots. It was sweet revenge for the Ravens, who lost last year's nail-biter AFC Championship to the same Patriots foe on the same Gillette Stadium field in Foxborough, Massachusetts.
A few hours earlier, the 49ers rallied from a 17-0 hole to defeat the Atlanta Falcons, who had posted the best regular season record in the NFC.
John Harbaugh joked to reporters, after the Ravens' win, that he and his brothers had a "few dreams" -- one of which may have been meeting up in the Super Bowl -- as well "as a few fights ... just like all brothers."
"We'll let the two teams duke it out, as much as possible," John Harbaugh said, smiling.
The Baltimore coach then made a point to talk about how proud he was of his brother Jim, as well as how much he admired the San Francisco team.
"I'd like to think that when you look at (the) two teams, you're looking at mirror images," John Harbaugh said, referring to the Super Bowl foes. "It's going to be a great football game."

The most imporant question is who will their mother and father root for?

I think that's pretty cool the two brothers are going against each other. I have no idea who I want to win, I just want to see a good game and most importantly, the commercials

It would be nice if the 49ers win, it would be a great follow up to the Giant's world series win last year .

As a Californian, I'm rooting for the 49ers in public...
but as a believer in the underdog, I'm rooting for the Ravens in spirit.

I'm not a fan of either, but the way the Ravens came through earlier tonight they have my vote. I literally thought it was a done deal 3rd quarter when they were down.

As a disgruntled Eagles fan, still pressed over SuperBowl 39, I'm glad the Pats lost. Go Ravens! DMV, stand up!

But if I had root for one of them, it'd be the Ravens.

The 49ers will continue their undefeated superbowl streak and tie the Steelers for most superbowl wins. Bookmark this.

26 Sandy Hook Elementary Students To Perform In Super Bowl 2013 Pregame
Quote:
According to USA Today, a group of 26 students from Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., will be singing “America the Beautiful” during the Super Bowl 2013 pre-game show on Sunday. In December, a tragic shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary took the lives of 26 students and faculty, most of them young children. The Super Bowl pregame will be in part an effort to honor the memories of the shooting’s victims.
The students and their families will be flown down to New Orleans a few days beforehand by the NFL. On game day, the group of Newtown students will perform “America the Beautiful” live on CBS shortly before Alicia Keys sings the National Anthem.
It looks like the efforts of the NFL will make a moving tribute to the victims lost in the Newtown massacre, though it will be far from the first time the NFL has honored victims of the Dec. 14 Sandy Hook shooting.
Many NFL players have emblazoned their helmets, cleats, and gloves with messages of support for the Newtown community, and games have held moments of silence in honor of the Sandy Hook victims.
The New York Giants have played a particularly large role in the Newtown tributes due to New York city’s close proximity to the Connecticut town. The Giants have invited students and family onto the field after games and given personal support. Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz even visited the family of 6-year-old Jack Pinto, who was buried in Cruz’s jersey.
"It was a time where I just wanted to be a positive voice, a positive light in a time where it can be very negative. It was a good time," Cruz told USA Today about the visit. "They're a great family and they are really united right now at this time. It was good to see."

I'm so ****ing excited. Even though I'm not a fan of either, it's still going to be awesome. I just need to prepare myself for beer and wings all day.
