Lawyers for pop star Kesha filed legal papers Monday asking a Manhattan judge to block music producer Dr. Luke from disseminating her personal medical records, which she was forced to turn over in their ongoing legal battle amidst her allegations that the hit-maker raped her.
Kesha — real name Kesha Rose Sebert — now worries that record producer and songwriter Lukasz Gottwald could leak the more than 900 pages of her medical records.
“Ms. Sebert now fears that Gottwald will seek to disclose and disseminate her personal medical records in an attempt to embarrass and harass her,” attorney James Pearl wrote in a motion to Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Shirley Werner Kornreich, adding that she worries the documents could become “public fodder.”
The records include the 29-year-old’s gynecological, psychiatric and rehab records going back more than 10 years, according to the filing.
“Ms. Sebert has disclosed highly sensitive personal medical records as part of this litigation, and her position as a world-renowned recording artist in whom there is great public interest renders any potential disclosure of those records potentially harmful to her personal and economic interests,” the attorney wrote.
Gottwald initially asked for the records in May, hoping they would disprove claims he raped her.
While the producer has not publicly stated any intention to divulge the personal documents, he most recently filed suit against the “Warrior” singer’s mother, Pebe Sebert, for a second time, citing defamation.
The two have been embroiled in litigation since October 2014, when Kesha claimed Dr. Luke’s persistent sexual and emotional abuse had forced her to seek rehab. Gottwald has vehemently denied the accusations.
Lawyers for both sides are expected to return to court in late October.
It's a shame that she had to provide them to him at all.
It's none of his business, and how could her medical records disprove that he raped her? If anything, they could prove the opposite, but since she didn't have any evidence she obviously didn't go to see a doctor soon after or she would have provided those receipts.
I wouldn't be afraid of my medical records being released for the sake of clearing the air and ending litigation. Only people with stuff to hide would be afraid when called out on.

If you have depression or bipolar disorder and you're in the spotlight, do you really want people to see that? People seeing every single medication you've taken for ten years? Every time you've been to the doctor and the reason why? No.

I mean, most people won't see this. If they want sure but most people won't care to go through 900 pages of Ke$ha's medical records, let's be honest
