Top Animated Shows of 2011
American Dad:
I have to admit, a few years ago I didn't really enjoy "American Dad" at all; now it's become the best show on Fox's Sunday animation line-up. I feel like Seth has really just spread himself too thin, because "Family Guy" has turned to ****, and "The Cleveland Show" is barely tolerable. Thank goodness for "American Dad."
Futurama:
Thank goodness there's a bigger sense of permanency with this show. "Futurama" has really found what works, and what doesn't. I'm happy that there was finally a happy ending with the cancellation mess; if you're watching "Futurama," I probably wouldn't like you, tbh.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars:
Geek moment #1 - George Lucas really has screwed a lot in this past two decades (and we'll be getting back to Mr. Lucas in a later segment); one thing he has done right for the Star Wars franchise (he's Executive Producer) is this series. If you watch this show, I don't need to explain much; if you don't watch, you're probably not a Star Wars fan and wouldn't enjoy it anyways.
Young Justice:
Geek moment #2 - To parallel the last summary, DC Comics really have screwed up a lot this year (and we'll be getting a lot more DC complaints and praises later in the countdown); this series is freaking awesome; Earth-16 is freaking awesome. There's some great stories, and even better character development. I expect this show to run for a very long time.
South Park:
Speaking of a show running a very long time... This year South Park has tackled The Human Centipede, the iPad, Germans, The Royal Wedding, crack babies, Multiple Personality Disorder, Asperger's, immigration, Wikileaks, bullying & suicide, Broadway, the Occupy movement, Ancient Aliens, and the foster care system; however, it was the much-talked-about mid-season finale about growing up that really put Trey & Matt on another level this year. It's rare when I enjoy every single episode of a South Park season; Season 14 is one of those seasons. Feel free to watch the entire season (other than the finale, not up yet) LEGALLY here:
