I proposed this idea for a thread to get a forum-wide opinion and any criticisms about our moderating. As with any recent addition of new moderators, complaints have spiked and we'd like to hear from the members.

This is NOT to dispute or talk about changes in ATRL policy regarding Blogs, explicit content, etc. Those were handed down from the Webmaster and Admin team.

You may criticize moderating decisions (warning points, bans, closure of threads, etc.) but NOT hurl personal insults towards moderators.

It's gotten much better since you aren't online that much anymore.

Pretty messy overall, rules are often unclear / not followed / exceptions made on a moderator-by-moderator basis. Some rules are sort of a "if you know about it then you can avoid the WP" But I guess that's part of the fun on ATRL so whatevs.

imo the only reason complaints have spiked is that people are paranoid about the new mods/think they can bully em into reversing points.

Frankly I've enjoyed the moderating recently, since I've gotten several reminders, points reversed when I asked nicely, etc. Maybe not everyone is as lucky/classy, though

EDIT: Actually I wish some of the fun threads would last longer. And whenever there's a "controversial issue" thread, it gets closed too quickly. Just warn/thread ban the insensitive users and let us continue a potentially serious and important discussion

No but really, Lee!! is just awful at moderating, lurking in the pokemon thread just waiting for some one to slip up

Well I think y'all are doing pretty good but sometimes I feel like y'all are too strict. Like when hesitating whether or not to warn, just don't. I got some pretty absurd WPs tbh.

I haven't had any issues with the moderating here. Threads seem to be closed and cleaned up fast. It's a lot better than this time last year, in my opinion. But then again, I'm not as active.

Honestly, I love the myth that I am super biased against the Hive. I'm actually the one that bans most of the people who frequently troll her and I police her threads.

As opposed to what? That's pretty much how rules work, you either read them or don't, and get in trouble

No, what I meant is sort of the unspoken rules of how to avoid WPs by being clever and dodging rules, and/or knowing what mods warn for what and when they're on, all that stuff you learn once you're on ATRL for a while but isn't actually written down for you to read.

Moderating is not that bad but I applaud you for actually opening a thread where moderators can be scrutinized. For far to long has the mods been able to get away from their criticisms and brush it off. Overall you guys are doing a great job but I think some things should change like how moderators can get away with comments that would be warned if it was posted by a regular member. Also I'm sure you guys have a reason for this but why is it that WP can only be reversed by the moderator who warned you when some start to get PRETTY BIAS? Anyways props to the mods overall you guys are doing a good job
