Tickets are crazy-expensive: Ticket prices have gone up, once again, for the event. They're now $25,000, up from last year's $15,000. The reason for the increase? Apparently, Anna Wintour wanted the gala to be more exclusive.
Frank Ocean is performing: Ocean's pretty much the R&B darling of the fashion world. According to the New York Post, he'll be providing the smooth musical stylings for the evening.
Folks are encouraged to hit the gym beforehand: Vogue published an article on how to get your body in shape before daring to attend the event in a gown. Their suggestions? Side-planks to strengthen the core (and improve posture) and beating the floor with heavy ropes (so your arms are toned like MObama's).
The dress code's pretty strict: Now that the Costume Institute bears her name, Anna's decided to upgrade the whole event by adding a new, grown & sexy dress code. It'll take more than a Tom Ford three-piece suit for the fellas to gain admittance. Fashion's head overlord has decreed that guys are required to attend in white tie attire and decorations, meaning, a back tailcoat, waistcoat, wing-collared shirt and of course, a white bow tie to match. This also included medals, top hats—the works.
Anna Wintour is helping Idina Menzel choose her dress: Adele Dazeem Idina Menzel must be keen on making a good impression on Ms. Wintour. She told Hello! magazine that she's tapped the editrix to help her choose a gown for the evening.
Prada is dressing Lupita Nyong'o and Michelle Dockery: The two share a stylist, Michaela Erlanger, who was listed as one The Hollywood Reporter's 25 Most Powerful Stylists, so you know they're going to look freakin' fantastic.
Zooey Deschanel is wearing Tommy Hilfiger: No surprise, considering she just collaborated on a line with the label.
Zoe Saldana will wear Prabal Gurung: She's worn his pieces countless times, and we're sure this one will be a doozy.
Emmy Rossum's dress might blind us: The Shameless actress told E! News that her dress is a "bright" color and also "long."
Taylor Swift is wearing J.Mendel: Another designer she's worn on a few occasions. It would be nice, though, if she chose a dress that's not sparkly or in a champagne hue. Surprise us, Taylor!
Amanda Seyfried is wearing Givenchy: She's already posed for the label, so this makes perfect sense.
Margot Robbie and Olivia Munn will wear Diane von Furstenberg: Maybe we'll get a Met Gala-worthy version of her famous wrap dress, which turned 60 this year.
Don't expect to see Michelle Obama there: MObama will be on hand to cut the ribbon at the renamed Anna Wintour Costume Center earlier in the day, but two Democratic National Committee events that evening will keep her away from the main show.
Kimye is gonna be there: The soon-to-be newlyweds are taking some time off of their wedding planning duties to attend the affair, which falls about two weeks before the May 24 nuptials taking place in France.
Gwyneth Paltrow is not coming: The newly-single Goopster was so bored at last year's event, that she's sitting this one out. A rep for Paltrow told the New York Post that she won't be in New York on May 6, and therefore can't attend.
