I don't think the audience was bored, I think they were bewildered. This wasn't exactly what they were used to in 2009. I think it's a testament to the way Gaga shifted the pop culture axis that just seven years later we can interpret their reaction as a sign of boredom and not "wtf am I seeing right now"
