Rihanna’s album sold fewer than 10,000 copies for #1 spot
Quote:
Rihanna’s ‘Talk That Talk’ has become the lowest-selling Number One album since modern records began.
According to Music Week the album ‘shifted’ just 9,578 copies, making it the first album to sell under 10,000 units since February 1994 (which is when current chart compiler Millward Brown began supplying data to the Official Charts Company).
A Top 10 album will set you back just 5417 copies (which is what Keane flogged last week), while 2430 copies landed Drake at Number 40. And if you’re wondering how many utter fools there are in the United Kingdom, the number appears to be 1184, that being the number of people who purchased The Midnight Beast’s ‘LP’.
The previous record for lowest-selling Number One album was held by The Cranberries’ ‘Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can’t We?’ album which sold 11,981 copies 947 weeks ago, meaning this is proper end of days stuff.
Britney could've gotten her first #1 album here if FF was released this year.
.
Either way though, It's back at #1 after being on the charts for over 30 weeks so it's still impressive.
