My neighborhood was mostly black but my schools were mostly hispanic/latino (Mexicans, Puerto Rican, Dominicans, Ecuadorians etc) so that's who I interacted with the most
Yeah! It was interesting being the only white family on the block. All of the neighborhood girls loved playing with my mom's hair. And the lady downstairs was so nice, she'd always have Nilla Waffers for us. I don't rememeber much else cuz I was 4.
But I do live in a predominantly black area again now. Which is awesome because the stereotype that blacks make good ribs is true. I mean it's so ****ing true. My God summer around here smells like heaven. Or pig hell depending on your outlook
I grew up in a mostly white community, like any other capital city in Australia. I do have some non-white people in my family though, for example my uncle married a Fijian woman who is my aunty and they had kids.
I grew up around black people (I'm black) but my neighbourhood, friend group and school/college were diverse (London is a multicultural city as people say)
