Music News: Madonna signs to Interscope

Interscope Records, an American record label owned by Universal Music Group, will be releasing Madonna’s new album in the US territory.

When Madonna recorded her cover of "Santa Baby" for the 1987 charity album "A Very Special Christmas" in 1987, her version of the popular hit was produced by Jimmy Iovine.

Today, Iovine is chairman of Interscope-Geffen-A&M, a Los Angeles based umbrella label owned by Universal Music Group.

And guess what's the label for which Madonna has signed an exclusive deal - to be officially announced very soon - for her 2012 album? Interscope, of course.

This is better than being with Warner, no doubt. Madonna's smart and she knows how to surround herself with the right people who could guarantee her a big comeback.
