Does Rihanna have stage presence?
Will Rihanna ever be capable of pulling off this level of performance?
The above video is the definition of stage presence. All eyes are fixated on the performer -- the artist commands attention from the audience. Rihanna's performance level is most likely on par with Katy Perry, however, I would argue that Rihanna lacks stage presence the most, when compared to the current female pop acts (excluding Nicki Minaj). I would even go as far as saying that Rihanna, with the exception of a couple clips ("S&M," "We Found Love"), lacks a presence in the majority of her music videos -- they're, for the most part, forgettable, and I feel that same "forgetability factor" translates on stage. Once a Rihanna performance has ended, while it may have been "fun while it lasted," her questionable presence on the stage does not linger and quickly fades. We can all agree that Rihanna has grown as a performer and as an artist since "Music Of The Sun," but we're six albums deep and her performance level is still arguably satisfactory when compared to her contemporaries. I would be cautiously concerned if I were a Navy member, because we're passed the learning curve at this point, folks. Do you agree? Disagree? Does Rihanna need to work on her stage presence? Will she improve, or is this it?
Sidenote: Check Spears giving everyone a
taste of the "End Of Time" dance between 3:10 and 3:12.

I think what Rihanna lacks in stage presence (I can't really remember any of her performances), she makes up for in the presence she has on the studio version of her songs. From another thread:

Not to say that Rihanna contributes absolutely nothing to her songs. Compare her to Britney's lifeless vocal performance on S&M. Rihanna she just throws herself into that song: energetic, playful, fun, flirty, feisty, ****ty, coquettish; she's game for pretty much anything. She gives it her all.
