Meat eaters should be treated in the same way as smokers and targeted with ad campaigns urging them to become vegetarians, according to Labour's new spokeswoman for the farming industry.
In an interview with vegan magazine Viva!life, she said: "I really believe that meat should be treated in exactly the same way as tobacco, with public campaigns to stop people eating it.
"Progress on animal welfare is being made at EU level … but in the end it comes down to not eating meat or dairy."
That will never, and should never, happen. That is a ridiculous notion.
A vegan in government should realize she is not there to serve her own interests, but to serve the majority of her constituents and to advocate for their best options.
If we didn't eat cooked meat, we'd never have evolved these big fat brains we have. As a species we are omnivores. I advocate much better farming methods tho.
I watched "If Slaughterhouses Had Glass Walls" (documentary) and went veggie for a little while but fell off due to smelling cooking meat.
That's not even comparable. Smoking hurts people who are not willing to smoke. Eating meat doesn't. Me eating meat doesn't prevent your anemic ass from grazing your grass all day.
