Miley: 1st female to score 5 #1 albums before the age of 21

Miley Cyrus' new album Bangerz sold 270K copies in its first week. That tally may seem low, considering the avalanche of media attention that Cyrus has received in the past few months—and the fact that the album contains two smash hits, "We Can't Stop" and "Wrecking Ball." But is it low? Let's take a look.
The tally for Cyrus is the ninth biggest opening of the year, behind albums by Justin Timberlake (968K), Drake (658K), Jay Z (528K), Luke Bryan (528K), Timberlake again (350K), Daft Punk (339K), Kanye West (327K) and J. Cole's Born Sinner (297K).
Now you might say, "But Miley is the most buzzed-about music star of the year, not the ninth most." Well, buzz doesn't always translate to gigantic first-week sales tallies. And take a closer look at that list. Five of the eight albums that have had bigger starts so far this year are either hip-hop or country, genres that have huge, built-in fan bases.
While Cyrus' first-week tally isn't a record-setter, it's far from a dud. Consider these facts:
This is the highest total for a female pop singer since P!nk's The Truth About Love started with sales of 280K in September 2012. (Bangerz sold more than Rihanna's Unapologetic, which sold 238K in its first week in November.)
By next week, Bangerz will have outsold Cyrus' previous album, Can't Be Tamed, which has sold 349K copies since its release in June 2010.
Cyrus is one of only three acts to top both The Billboard 200 and the Hot 100 singles chart so far this year. The others are Bruno Mars and Robin Thicke—pretty good company to be in.
Here's an impressive stat: Cyrus becomes the first female artist to land five #1 albums on The Billboard 200 before the age of 21. (The big day is Nov. 23.) Bangerz follows Hannah Montana, Hannah Montana 2/Meet Miley Cyrus, Breakout and Hannah Montana: The Movie. Britney Spears had held the old record for most #1 albums by a female artist before her 21st birthday. She had three: …Baby One More Time, Oops!...I Did It Again and Britney.
(While Cyrus holds the female record for having five #1 albums at the youngest age, she doesn't have the overall record. Justin Bieber notched five #1 albums before his 19th birthday.)
Bangerz sold 177K digital copies, which puts it at #1 on Top Digital Albums.
Bangerz also enters the U.K.'s Official Albums Chart at #1. "Wrecking Ball" enters the U.K.'s Official Singles Chart at #1. Bangerz is only the second album of 2013 to reach #1 in both the U.S. and the U.K. and also spawn a single that reached #1 in both countries. The first was Robin Thicke's Blurred Lines. Cyrus is the first female artist to pull of this four-pronged chart feat since Rihanna scored with the aforementioned Unapologetic last year.
Bangerz is Cyrus' first #1 album in the U.K. "Wrecking Ball" is her second #1 single there. Her previous smash, "We Can't Stop," also achieved the feat. (It stopped at #2 in the U.S.)
Cyrus is one of three artists in this week's top five who first gained prominence as a child star on a TV show. The others are Drake (Degrassi: The Next Generation) and Justin Timberlake (The Mickey Mouse Club).
