Poll: Have your parents ever hit you?

Have you ever gotten molly whopped or just a straight up beat down? My parents are great but in the past they had their moments. I remember saying a smart ass comment to my dad in front of the pool cleaner and he marched into the house and slapped me a few times. Keep in mind he's really ****ing big and his hand was the size of my face

My mom has hit me a few times but the one I most remember was back from middle school when she found out I was failing all of my classes and I even ditched that day. She pulled my ass out of bed, got an extension cable and you can guess the rest.

Wow they really did a number on you...I used to get popped or spanked but that was like only on the butt...My oldest brother got nearly choked before for going to jail or something though.

Only with their hands and it was on my back. The hits were pointless though; I was more scared of getting my stuff taken. Whippings didn't do anything for me as a child.

Off topic but I find a lot of kids today aren't being properly punished. I'm only 16, but the generations a few years younger than me are shaping up to be the most entitled, over sensitive bunch of ***** ever. Hit your kids when they're misbehaving, it's not wrong.

No, I find the acceptance of beatings in the African American community absolutely disgusting

My parents never hit me, other than maybe a light slap on the head or thighs. Violence doesn't build character or stop children acting out any better than strong words, a tone of voice and punishments such as grounding or time out does.

edit: sorry for the generalisation, I know it's not just AA's, but from what I have ever seen in discussions like this the AA community is a majority of the discussion when reminiscing on past whoopings.

I'm not saying I didn't deserve it, bcos I did (most of the time). I was going on a bit of a downward spiral so they didn't know how to discipline me since nothing else worked. They were young too.

Same here, well Mexican-Italian. I grew up in East LA too so my childhood was a bit rough
