I will start my blog talking about, IMO, the most disappointing release of the year
Linkin Park was one of the few Band/Artist i could say "they never released something mediocre" until Minutes To Midnight came
My first impression was, is this Linkin Park?
Of course, i downloaded the album 1 month earlier than the release date, and at that time there were like 1M of fake *******s, so i decided not to believe that the material i've downloaded was the selected one to come out to the streets May 9, 2007
Later i downloaded again MTM and it was the same ****
If you're a fan of Nu-metal sound, you might not buy Minutes To Midnight.
So Minutes To Midnight is the first album in 4 years from the best selling rock band of this decade, It's a mixture between the-closest-to-old-linkin-park-sound songs like No More Sorrow, Bleed It Out & Given Up and a bunch of wanna-be-ballads written in about 4 minutes while listening some U2 albums
1 Wake: Opening Track, a cool instrumental, not too heavy, not to slow. it's like the best composition in the album actually
2. Given Up: Many of you, after hearing this track, would say, see Linkin Park hasn't changed. but just IMO Given Up is one of the weakest songs on any Linkin Park album. It's not Linkin Park, it's not new-linkin park, it apports nothing to the album, and it could easily be a leftover of Meteora.
5/10
3. Leave Out All The Rest: Maybe the strongest song on the album. It's a ballad. yes not exacly their kind of ballad but still a great tune.Good vocals, great lyrics They should shoot a vid for this song. but they have 1 ballad this month
9/10
4. Bleed It Out: Their weakest single to date. not a bad song actually but it don't hook me up at all, i could easily forget this song if it wasn't for it's video. and when you listen so many times I Bleed It Out digging deeper just to throw it away, trust me, you can hate this song
4/10
5. Shadow Of The Day: Third Single? whoever took this desicion should be fired at once.
This song is a complete rip-off of U2 career, it has no emotion, it seems to forced to sing it, not their style at all
6/10
6. What I've Done: First Single, and they knew this was the most commercial song of the album, they couldn't let it pass. I actually like this song, it's simple but i believe more what his singing than say SOTD.
8/10
7. Hands Held Down.
it seems like a charity song more than a LP song
1/10 i never listen to this song EVER, not even for a mistake
8. No More Sorrow: it seems they fired Mr. Hahn on this song, and on the whole album. but well,a screamy raw rock tune. not bad. but not their best obviously
6/10
9. Valentine's Day: this track is one of that actually hooked me up instantly, it's different from their earlier works, but if you listen and go deeper, this songs rocks even more than you think, it's not commercial, it's not catchy, but it's perfectly composed
9/10
10. In Between: 1.5/10
11. In Pieces: not quite a typical Linkin Park track but it's pretty much acceptable
7/10
12. The Little Things Give You Away: Good Vocals, Good Arranging, Good Composing, i give this song a
7/10 but it's not linkin park at all, and it's very forgettable
Sorry to all Linkin Park fans, and sorry to all of you for my low-english
My first entry wow. comment
