After contributing a track to one of the lewdest things Animator Expo could offer (which is, by the way, the top track of the last year), Daoko finally revealed her face in the MV above, but a more important thing is that her music has become known to the masses. She has quite a discography for her age and to say that it's better than some artists that are approaching their 40's is to say the most obvious thing. ShibuyaK, Daoko's latest single, doesn't showcase everything she's capable of, but it's a perfect track to help you get into her. It's plain and cutesy and full of adoration for the Tokyo district, yet there is something about its production that puts it above similar idol songs.
29. FIERSTAR - You're pitiful
Quote:
I honestly don't know how I feel about FIESTAR since slay they can and let's not forget queen Yezi, but their antics look like it's been done before. The music, however, always deliver and You're pitiful is no exception. It's an anthem on arrival. I'm not too invested into them to say more, so I'll leave it at that.
28. Namie Amuro - Birthday
Quote:
Everyone who's following my posts about j-pop knows how I feel about _generic and I'm going to rant about it again during the rate, but at least I can admit that Baba of j-pop delivered with birthday. The song is far from her usual fierce bops, though this time it feels refreshing. It's also cutesy and straightforward, but somehow Namie makes it special and adds her own flare. Not everyone has that. I'll definitely play it on my birthday to feel less lonely than I usually am.
27. f(x) - Cash Me Out
Quote:
The most hated (from what I've seen) song from f(x)'s smash album is making my list and I'm not ashamed to admit that I removed my follicle when I heard it first and it's still doing its job. I can't justify its trashiness completely, the only thing I can vouch for is that acid house or whatever acid it is second half of the chorus. It's driving me crazy every time I reach the part and I want my basic faves to recreate this magical moment on their mythical albums with hopefully superior accompanying parts, but CMO is what I'm stuck with now and I (you too, probably) will have to deal with it.
26. TeddyLoid - VIBRASKOOL
Quote:
A cut from TL's new album, fresh from the oven. It was him who teamed up with DAOKO to make the top song of 2014, MEMEME! I confess I didn't pay attention to his non-anime albums at first, but ignoring his TALENT was a stupid mistake. VIBRASKOOL is kind of similar to the previous track because it's also a bop that can be considered trashy by listerers with ~exquisite~ taste, but no one cares about that when you just want to lose yourself to dance or simply have fun. It is by no means the BEST track on the album quality-wise, but I couldn't spend a single day without blasting it out since the release and I can't find a single reason against its inclusion here.
Thanks for commenting, everyone! i think I'm going to make a Top 5 of trash AS next (inspired by some of the members) since I wasn't here when those tracks were originally released and I realized how deeply they stung.
