100. Simple Plan - When I'm Gone
Chart run: 39-29-11-7-4-2-2-2-still on (8 weeks, #2 peak)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=Mn_dUR7IX-A
Kicking off the top 100 is the return of one of Canada's most successful bands of the past few years. The Quebec-based band has had hits such as "Addicted", "Perfect", "Untitled", "Shut Up" and "Welcome To My Life", and returned in 2007 with a new single from their upcoming third album, set for a 2008 release. This song would've been higher, as it's currently #2 on my chart, but came too late in the year to rank any higher. Maybe in 2008?
99. Kylie Minogue - 2 Hearts
Chart run: 50-22-15-13-11-10-11-13-17-21-26-still on (11 weeks, #10 peak)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=NWt7JlRCVes
Another comeback is at #99, this time from legendary Australian singer Kylie Minogue. The single was kinda underwhelming compared to past efforts, but still managed a top 10 peak... and there is hope for future singles from "X" to continue her hit streak in 2008.
98. MB - Time
Chart run: 92-38-24-16-12-10-9-9-18-27-35-66-85-97 (14 weeks, #9 peak)
http://www.themaxonline.net/music/mb/songs/time.mp3
After the success of his previous hit "Julien" from last year, which made my top 50 for the year, the expectations of MB, now using the stage name Michćl Blacke, were high to deliver another hit. This song from his "Sneakers On A Telephone Wire" album became his first top 10 hit, but unfortunately failed to see any kind of longevity.
97. Spice Girls - Headlines
Chart run: 16-9-8-6-6-6-7-8-14-still on (9 weeks, #6 peak)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=WcAlA4iY_kY
After a 7-year break, the Spice Girls finally reformed, and for the first time since 1998, all 5 members are present. Unfortunately, the single failed to meet up to expectations on the charts, but on my chart, it did manage to make the top 10 for a few weeks, and make my top 100 year-end here at #97, which only 3 of them have done solo (Melanie C, Emma and Geri), with Emma's being the most recent in 2004, with the top 10 hit "Maybe".
96. Lily Allen - Alfie
Chart run: 96-50-40-28-20-16-13-13-18-21-28-38-44-59-80 (15 weeks, #13 peak)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=UhplzTE24Ps
I hadn't been that impressed with Lily before this ("Smile" did make my weekly top 20, but had no longevity), but this single made its mark with me. The real-life story of her brother Alfie, and her advice to him, made for her best single to date, and while I was originally put off by the dodgy instrumental, the lyrics really got my attention, and placed Lily with her first top 100 year-end single.
95. Timbaland f/Nelly Furtado & Justin Timberlake - Give It To Me
Chart run: 99-(off for 7 weeks)-77-46-37-34-32-28-25-22-21-21-27-39-50-50-61-69-89 (18 weeks, #21 peak)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=2__Qdd11rfA
In 2006, Timbaland brought the careers of Nelly Furtado and Justin Timberlake to new heights. This year, he released his latest album "Shock Value", and brought Nelly and Justin on his own lead-off single. I have a feeling Timbaland will have even more hits in 2008... but for 2007, this is his second highest appearance. How high will his remix of OneRepublic's "Apologize" rank?
94. Shakira f/Santana - Illegal
Chart run: 97-81-64-57-47-43-32-19-14-12-12-10-8-7-8-12-15-20-25-31-41-51-65-82 (24 weeks, #7 peak)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=wzik1Z6A6xY
2006's biggest hit worldwide had to have been "Hips Don't Lie", which became Shakira's biggest hit and signature song. It took her a long time to follow it up, but when she did, she got a top 10 hit on my chart, despite being a huge radio flop! The appearance of Carlos Santana on this track gave it more rhythm for a ballad, and ranks as the second highest ranking song of the year for both artists. Shakira still has a duet with Beyoncé to come, while Santana's collaboration with Chad Kroeger is higher up too.
93. KT Tunstall - Hold On
Chart run: 31-24-21-20-17-14-11-16-19-23-31-44-66-89 (14 weeks, #11 peak)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=GARc65jkDhY
KT Tunstall's debut album "Eye To The Telescope" gave us 3 top 20 hits on my chart, 2 of which made the top 10, and the top 25 on 2006's year-end chart. Unfortunately, she couldn't follow it up here with the same success, but still manages a respectable #93 year-end position.
92. Papa Roach - Forever
Chart run: 91-63-39-35-32-32-31-28-27-27-24-22-28-37-44-64-80 (17 weeks, #22 peak)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=_bISJ2zi1zQ
This was one of the big surprises of the year for me. I've always thought Papa Roach was just okay, with hits like "Last Resort" and "Scars"... but it was this song that became my favourite from them. Despite missing the top 20 on my weekly chart, it makes my year-end here at #92, becoming the lowest-peaking song to make my year-end chart.
91. Yellowcard - Light Up The Sky
Chart run: 55-35-29-24-21-21-19-17-16-15-19-33-43-68-83 (15 weeks, #15 peak)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=Pe0FS6Am488
Yellowcard is another band that I always thought was just okay, as none of their previous hits clicked enough with me to make my year-end top 100 lists. However, this song from their latest album "Paper Walls" became their first top 20 hit from me, and my favourite from them.

90. Christina Aguilera - Slow Down Baby
Chart run: 86-68-50-36-33-31-30-27-24-20-20-20-26-32-42-64-87 (17 weeks, #20 peak)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=mMyqZ7qFZrI
When I first heard the "Back To Basics" album last year, this was one of the immediate standouts. I was waiting and waiting for this to be a single, and after the poor performance on the charts of "Candyman", I had given up hope. However, this did eventually get a release in some Asian countries, which got me to chart this... and while it didn't do as well as expected due to its late timing, it still manages to become the first of three Christina songs to appear here.
89. Chantal Kreviazuk - Wonderful
Chart run: 98-79-72-50-43-36-32-28-24-21-17-17-16-12-12-12-16-26-43-50-57-84 (22 weeks, #12 peak)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=826MQMlmtJc
After "All I Can Do" disappointed me last year, I was hoping that it wasn't the end of Chantal releasing really good songs. It surely wasn't, and this follow-up proved it, joining the ranks of her great songs of the past. Despite "Ghosts Of You", the next single, not making my year-end top 100, I did enjoy it, enough to make my last.fm most played top 100 (which may follow).
88. Beyoncé - Irreplaceable
Chart run: 99-88-78-62-40-20-15-9-7-6-4-2-1-2-2-3-5-8-11-14-21-21-28-43-53-53-61-61-86 (29 weeks, #1 peak)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=juDrxsrtumI
And now, we're up to one of the year's absolute biggest hits. However, due to being caught between 2006 and 2007, it only finishes at #88 for 2007 (it was in my top 50 of 2006). This brought Beyoncé back to the top of my chart after a 2-year absence, and also its success helped build my anticipation for her duet with Shakira, "Beautiful Liar", which is still to come.
87. Duran Duran - Falling Down
Chart run: 92-87-83-81-77-74-69-47-28-20-16-13-15-16-20-24-29-36-still on (18 weeks, #13 peak)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=Y3HZzDS2_hU
After the success of their first album with the original line-up in nearly 20 years back in 2004, I was anticipating new material from Duran Duran for years afterwards. Despite now only being a foursome, they delivered, working with Justin Timberlake on this song, as he can be heard on background vocals. Hopefully more singles from "Red Carpet Massacre" will be released in 2008, with the chance to make this chart next year!
86. Finger Eleven - I'll Keep Your Memory Vague
Chart run: 79-61-26-18-14-11-10-13-14-12-12-16-18-still on (13 weeks, #10 peak)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=MSiSnef0qBk
After the immense success of 2004's "One Thing", it took 3 years for Finger Eleven to get another hit of that caliber, which they did with "Paralyzer". And while that did not make my top 100 of the year, the later single "I'll Keep Your Memory Vague", which is currently receiving heavy airplay in Canada, really clicked with me and made my weekly top 10.
85. Roz Bell - Papercut
Chart run: 100-79-65-54-52-49-40-35-28-22-18-16-15-15-19-24-34-still on (17 weeks, #15 peak)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=SwMqn1q2T9A
Proving that he isn't just a one hit wonder, new Canadian singer Roz Bell followed up his big hit "Yesterday Man" with the more experimental "Papercut", which shows off all his quirks and gave him a second hit on my chart. How high did his debut, "Yesterday Man", land?
84. The Wreckers - Cigarettes
Chart run: 62-37-22-16-15-13-11-11-16-24-28-33-42-59-74 (15 weeks, #11 peak)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=9AB59aqaEAw
After having 4 #1 hits from the album, I had been waiting for news regarding another single from their album "Stand Still, Look Pretty", and found out that "Cigarettes" was being planned to promote their live CD/DVD "Way Back Home: Live From New York City". While that release never came to fruition, it still managed to make my chart, and give Michelle Branch and Jessica Harp another top 100 appearance. How high is their #1 hit "Tennessee" in this list?
83. Kalan Porter - Down In Heaven
Chart run: 97-66-39-33-28-25-25-24-23-21-21-21-22-28-37-46-79 (17 weeks, #21 peak)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=jgWsAvs4zfQ
The Canadian Idol winner from the second season had charted back in 2005 with his song "Single", but in 2007 he came back with a new album "Wake Up Living". This song became my favourite from him, which makes my top 100 year-end despite not making my weekly top 20.
82. Suzie McNeil - Hung Up
Chart run: 28-21-17-14-12-11-11-18-20-24-27-33-51-73-98 (15 weeks, #11 peak)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=03n4qe2EbJ0
In 2006, the revamped INXS with J.D. Fortune scored three top 15 hits, including the top 10 "Afterglow". One of the contestants from the "Rock Star: INXS" show was Toronto-based singer Suzie McNeil, who released her debut album "Broken And Beautiful" in 2007, with this catchy pop/rock song acting as the first single.
81. Collective Soul - Hollywood
Chart run: 96-57-34-25-18-12-10-8-8-12-20-29-38-56-72-92 (16 weeks, #8 peak)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=Og1vtUbbVPY
I'd always liked Collective Soul's music in the 1990's, and while I liked their music this decade too, it hasn't been as good to me as their glory days. However, this song changed that, as it reminded me of exactly what was so great about Collective Soul... and that they could still have the same level of quality. This became their first top 10 on my chart in 8 years (after "Run" in 1999), proving that anyone can make a comeback given the right song.

80. dbClifford - Don't Wanna
Chart run: 73-29-18-15-11-8-7-9-10-17-20-35-51-67 (14 weeks, #7 peak)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=7odIcCzPl38
New Canadian singer dbClifford made a minor splash with his debut single "Simple Things", but it was this, his second single, that gave him a top 10 hit on my chart. I'm not sure what the future holds for him, but I hope he'll be able to deliver more hits!
79. Joss Stone - Tell Me 'Bout It
Chart run: 98-50-38-33-25-22-18-16-21-18-14-23-30-37-47-62-71 (17 weeks, #14 peak)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=qNc7suvb1uc
Joss Stone has always been one of those singers that I just found okay... but it was this catchy single that made me notice the British soul star a lot more, and it became her biggest hit on my chart so far. She's already on her third album in just four years... wanna bet she'll have a fourth within the next year?
78. Christina Aguilera - Hurt
Chart run: 26-11-6-3-2-1-1-1-1-1-1-2-2-2-3-3-1-1-4-6-6-10-15-22-23-29-33-46-52-60-60-67-73-97 (34 weeks, #1 peak for 8 weeks)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=lbcltLf2VHo
And now we're up to a holdover from 2006. This song was originally my #6 song of 2006, and spent a record 8 weeks at #1 on my chart. However, it had enough staying power into 2007 to rank on this year's list too, at #78! This has become one of my favourite songs ever, and my favourite Christina single to date. She does have one more to come... but how high did "Candyman" rank?
77. Girls Aloud - Call The Shots
Chart run: 48-17-10-7-5-5-3-7-9-10-15-still on (11 weeks, #3 peak)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=UHoF3a6Q9Wk
Girls Aloud had always been inconsistent for me before this... but with this song, it was the first time that they got 2 big hits in a row for me. This became my favourite song from them so far, but was hurt slightly by being released too late in the year... and as a result, the lower peaking "Sexy! No No No" beat this out!
76. Augustana - Boston
Chart run: 94-(off for 25 weeks)-64-36-26-22-16-14-11-11-13-13-15-20-29-37-44-64-94 (18 weeks, #11 peak)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=UnqvjD7Kxs4
Another one of those American pop/rock bands who dominated hot adult contemporary radio in 2007 was Augustana, although it was primarily with just this one song. Unfortunately, they failed to have another big hit after this... but who knows if they ever will? I first heard this song in 2006, didn't pay much attention to it, but it came back in 2007 with a huge splash.
75. Santana f/Chad Kroeger - Into The Night
Chart run: 97-90-56-39-35-33-30-28-24-21-17-14-14-26-36-41-47-59-still on (18 weeks, #14 peak)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=S7amYNaPTRI
Ever since his comeback started in 1999, I've enjoyed Santana's music... I wasn't sure what to expect when I heard he was working with Chad Kroeger again (I really enjoyed their previous collaboration, "Why Don't You & I", but my opinion on Nickelback had changed since their latest album has been overplayed to the degree of major burnout)... sure enough, they did a good collaboration, but the Nickelback burnout factor meant that this could only reach #14 on my weekly chart. Still, a respectable position for a musical legend and a contemporary star.
74. Sugababes - About You Now
Chart run: 76-64-40-34-29-28-24-19-20-25-27-28-33-33-35-47-52-62-still on (18 weeks, #19 peak)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=QPPgHlh1PVI
Another group who I've usually liked in recent years are the Sugababes. This single took me by surprise, as it sounded more pure pop than most of their other songs! It didn't do quite as well on my chart as past singles, but still managed enough longevity to claim the #74 position here. Their follow-up single "Change" is currently in my top 10, so it should make my top 100 of 2008.
73. Maroon 5 - Won't Go Home Without You
Chart run: 33-8-1-1-1-1-1-still on (7 weeks, #1 peak for 5 weeks so far)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=j6voJ1sgY_0
When I first got their album "It Won't Be Soon Before Long", this was the obvious standout track, and I knew it had to be a single. It seemed to be the "She Will Be Loved" of this album, with influences from The Police's classic "Every Breath You Take"... so when this song got released as a single, I debuted it on my chart, and within 3 weeks, it was #1. It's been #1 for the past 5 weeks on my chart... and given how much I like it still, it should have the longevity to make my 2008 year-end too.
72. Carrie Underwood - Wasted
Chart run: 85-78-73-68-56-54-53-52-49-46-38-34-25-21-19-18-20-30-36-51-76 (21 weeks, #18 peak)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=LeavmGw2GUQ
The single before this, "Before He Cheats", was Carrie Underwood's breakthrough into mainstream pop music... however, that did not make either 2006 or 2007's year-end list due to being split between the two years! This song, the follow-up, had the advantage of its entire run being inside 2007, and therefore claims the #72 position for the entire year. With a new album, "Carnival Ride", just having been released, can that place any songs on my 2008 year-end?
71. Declan Galbraith - An Angel
Chart run: 87-49-44-38-35-30-26-22-19-17-16-16-20-25-33-44-60-84-95 (19 weeks, #16 peak)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=fSy9XOLjHuc
This has to be my most random entry of the year! 3 days ago, he just turned 16, making him the youngest singer on the entire list... and this song showed the power of his young voice. Unfortunately, this is his only entry on here... but what a song it is! This shows that age is nothing detrimental for a good song.

70. Girls Aloud - Sexy! No No No
Chart run: 61-41-36-30-22-18-12-10-11-14-18-23-33-37-50-62-81-96 (18 weeks, #10 peak)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=T2rZVOdOCPY
Despite me preferring "Call The Shots" overall, this previous single ranks higher as its run is entirely within 2007. The return of one of the UK's finest girl groups ever came back with a bang, and did it flop? No, no, no! It's right here at #70... that's it for them for this year.
69. Michael Buble - Everything
Chart run: 99-92-81-66-45-37-31-22-17-13-13-13-19-22-24-29-38-48-62-80 (20 weeks, #13 peak)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=LEn-eHT7kMM
Michael Buble has been one of the most prominent jazz crooners of the past few years, and this Vancouver resident usually records cover songs, but usually includes an original or two on his albums. This one, from his "Call Me Irresponsible" album, was an original, which I feel he does the best on, and it shows as he gets the #69 year-end position.
68. Evanescence - Lithium
Chart run: 95-78-70-61-55-49-41-39-32-28-20-16-13-4-3-2-6-10-16-19-20-31-45-51-58-85 (26 weeks, #2 peak)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=V4aiH0AiXBE
After last year's huge hit "Call Me When You're Sober", the rest of the album "The Open Door" failed to deliver for the most part. However, this dark ballad did manage to reach #2 on my weekly chart, despite being a weak #2 for the most part. Still, it gives Amy Lee and the revolving door of band members with her a respectable year-end position.
67. Linkin Park - What I've Done
Chart run: 62-36-24-18-11-10-8-10-13-16-23-27-29-37-45-73-92 (17 weeks, #8 peak)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=wjBZh-yRmkc
While not as good as most of their other songs, this song, the lead-off single from their "Minutes To Midnight" album, managed to make the top 10 on early hype. As usual, I think the third singles from their albums are the best, and that shows on here... but how high is "Shadow Of The Day"?
66. JoJo - How To Touch A Girl
Chart run: 100-35-23-17-14-13-11-8-5-3-4-5-7-8-14-17-18-19-27-41-55-92 (22 weeks, #3 peak)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=EUYYcvhvXuM
With a title like that, you'd have thought she'd have been #69 for the year! However, this song isn't about how to touch a girl sexually... she's still kinda young for that :P This ballad from her follows up last year's top 10 hit "Too Little, Too Late", and gives JoJo another year-end appearance at #65.
65. Hilary Duff - Stranger
Chart run: 67-31-24-17-14-13-13-11-8-12-12-19-24-42-52-62-88 (17 weeks, #8 peak)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=MyShkaAwbR8
Hilary Duff, best known for pure pop songs before this, went electro-pop on this album. The new sound worked well for her, as shown by 2 of her songs ranking in my year-end top 100. "Stranger" is the first of them, and despite having the more meaningful lyrics of the two, ranks lower than the bigger hit. Where did "With Love" rank?
64. Eva Avila - I Owe It All To You
Chart run: 85-74-63-53-41-34-26-15-8-7-8-10-12-16-19-27-36-44-48-66-94-97 (22 weeks, #7 peak)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=AYhcUbSNvic
I usually enjoy the end outputs of Canadian Idol winners... and Eva Avila was no exception. The Quebec resident got one of her singles, an uptempo pop song, into my year-end top 100, making her only appearance in here. Hopefully the future will continue to be bright for her!
63. Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Catch You
Chart run: 43-28-16-9-6-5-5-5-10-15-23-28-34-45-79-97-100 (17 weeks, #5 peak)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=k6UpEgx-bms
Sophie Ellis-Bextor returned in 2007 with one of her best singles yet... actually, I think this is her best! This kept with her usual dance-pop style, as she does best... and got a top 5 weekly chart position in return.
62. David Usher - The Music
Chart run: 98-55-31-27-24-21-17-13-12-14-19-20-25-29-35-40-48-59-68-80 (20 weeks, #12 peak)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=xoGfzaMkFoI
After 2 lacklustre albums singles-wise (with no singles from either making the top 30 on my weekly chart), David Usher finally returned with something worthy of the "Morning Orbit"-era singles, scoring another top 20 hit. This became one of his biggest hits in Canada, and one of my personal favourites from him, ranking at a very respectable #62.
61. Amy Winehouse - Rehab
Chart run: 98-32-24-17-13-11-9-6-6-6-9-9-9-10-9-15-18-19-29-39-45-49-49-50-56-74-91 (27 weeks, #6 peak)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=l-_ZywDWRK8
This song's lyrics basically described her life in the tabloids this year! Amy Winehouse just couldn't go a day without having a new headline about her personal life and how she's a train wreck! Despite that, I really took a shine to her music in 2007, and this, her breakthrough single, became her first top 10 on my chart. Three more singles from the "Back To Black" album, one of my favourites of the year, are still to come... but where did they rank?

60. Gwen Stefani - Early Winter
Chart run: 63-16-11-8-5-3-2-5-5-5-6-7-still on (12 weeks, #2 peak)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=OIqcg_2AgBQ
This really was Gwen Stefani's year... however, the first single from the album, "Wind It Up", was a complete disaster on my chart! However, she made up for it nicely with four straight top 10 hits. This, the most recent one, is still in my current top 10, and ranks as the lowest of the four. Will her return to No Doubt deliver in 2008? Hopefully it'll give Gwen another strong year!
59. Kanye West - Stronger
Chart run: 93-67-59-45-41-36-31-25-21-21-15-15-17-22-25-29-30-37-40-59-68-84 (22 weeks, #15 peak)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=3jzSh_MLNcY
There aren't that many rappers that I've enjoyed lately... but Kanye West has had some good songs. This, which takes the bass line from Daft Punk's "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger", became one of Kanye's biggest hits on my chart, and gives him his only appearance in my top 100 of 2007.
58. The Killers - Read My Mind
Chart run: 90-70-34-27-22-20-18-14-11-9-7-6-4-17-30-44-61-80-99 (19 weeks, #4 peak)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=3Oec8RuwVVs
After releasing the album "Sam's Town" last year, this song was often cited as a fan favourite. I can definitely see why, as this song became the third straight top 5 from that album on my chart. Unfortunately, things really went wrong for them afterwards as everything they've released since has completely bombed! Hopefully the Killers will pick it up again on their next studio album!
57. Fuel - Wasted Time
Chart run: 71-34-25-16-12-11-10-9-10-13-19-20-22-27-35-45-59-72-97 (19 weeks, #9 peak)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=u4ELjdVwSqY
Here's one of 2007's surprises for me... after Fuel's lead singer left, and Chris Daughtry rejected their offer to replace him, I thought they'd never be heard from again! However, Fuel has indeed found a new lead singer, and one who keeps the Fuel sound intact on this song, which became their first top 10 on my chart.
56. Timbaland f/OneRepublic - Apologize
Chart run: 100-79-54-49-41-27-19-13-10-9-8-9-12-13-14-18-20-19-still on (18 weeks, #8 peak)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=O_3XRx8EnuI
An up and coming band, OneRepublic, got their big break this year when uber-producer Timbaland remixed their song "Apologize" and included it on one of this year's biggest albums, "Shock Value". This song, which reached my top 10 back in October, gave Timbaland another big hit, and also launched the career of OneRepublic, with "Stop and Stare" already shaping up to be big in 2008.
55. Beyoncé & Shakira - Beautiful Liar
Chart run: 51-24-13-9-7-6-5-4-8-10-18-26-31-38-45-65-81 (17 weeks, #4 peak)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=_aLFmVwbxro
One of 2007's most hyped collaborations was this one by two booty-shaking ladies. It wasn't the best by either artist, but the highest that they both have on 2007's year-end. Hopefully they will both have new material out in 2008 to continue their hit streaks!
54. Rihanna f/Ne-Yo - Hate That I Love You
Chart run: 97-63-52-34-27-21-17-14-14-12-12-12-15-18-17-22-25-30-37-still on (19 weeks, #12 peak)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=FIUv3dOBbCk
Three collaborations in a row? Is this a record? Regardless, this is the first of four Rihanna songs on my year-end, and this teamed her up with Ne-Yo in a fantastic duet. Their voices worked well on this song together, and gave them a big hit... but Rihanna clearly had a few bigger this year!
53. Aly & A.J. - Potential Break Up Song
Chart run: 86-69-34-25-18-15-11-8-7-6-9-11-15-23-29-42-48-56-80 (19 weeks, #6 peak)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=bqpA5Acc8-c
Here's another one of 2007's surprises. In 2006, despite missing my weekly top 30, their song "Rush" did respectably well, with longevity rivalling many top 10 hits. However, it was this song that got them really noticed for me, as they went electro-pop on their latest album, "Insomniatic", delivering one of the year's best pop songs.
52. Bon Jovi - (You Want To) Make A Memory
Chart run: 55-38-28-19-11-9-8-7-9-12-14-16-22-24-29-32-53-80 (18 weeks, #7 peak)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=zxtvHxQllzM
Now we go to a veteran rock band whose latest stuff has been more oriented towards their aging audience, as well as a new audience from country fans who enjoyed their hit from last year, "Who Says You Can't Go Home". Despite this song going top 10 on my weekly chart, no future singles were able to reach the top 40 for me... but still, they get a respectable #52 finishing on my year-end.
51. Amy Winehouse - Tears Dry On Their Own
Chart run: 98-94-88-80-69-59-39-28-16-12-10-9-7-6-10-15-19-26-34-48-77-83 (22 weeks, #6 peak)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=JYUP2K182t4
And now we're up to the second of four appearances by the year's most controversial artist, Amy Winehouse! This song, the fourth single from her "Back To Black" album, continued an impressive hit streak this year, and just barely misses the top 50.

50. Live On Arrival - Hello Goodbye
Chart run: 75-39-26-19-15-13-12-12-12-14-18-19-20-25-27-32-35-46-56-still on (19 weeks, #12 peak)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=oBs8gZXwUTg
Now we're up to a Canadian band who hasn't even released their album yet, hence no cover is available. They've released 2 singles from it though, with this being their better charting song of the two, and kicking off the top 50 of 2007.
49. Matchbox Twenty - How Far We've Come
Chart run: 28-19-12-7-3-3-5-7-8-9-19-27-32-39-57-72 (16 weeks, #3 peak)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=UX8ML16n-7g
I'd been waiting for new Matchbox Twenty for years, and they certainly delivered after Rob Thomas's solo career did well for him. However, it was mostly driven by hype in the beginning, and got tired a little too fast... still, they manage a top 50 year-end position, but where did Rob himself rank with "Little Wonders"?
48. Mandy Moore - Extraordinary
Chart run: 83-74-73-60-41-33-27-23-15-14-15-14-14-17-19-21-22-30-37-43-58-75 (22 weeks, #14 peak)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=1-HQN44VfFk
Mandy Moore, former teen-pop starlet, transformed herself into a more mature artist in 2007 with her latest album "Wild Hope". And while this wasn't quite as good as some of her previous hits (namely "I Wanna Be With You" from 2000 and "Cry" from 2002), this was still a respectable effort, and gave her a top 50 year-end position despite missing the top 10 entirely!
47. Hinder - Better Than Me
Chart run: 91-72-64-60-52-49-35-30-25-20-18-16-17-15-14-14-14-20-23-27-33-37-41-57-65-66-74-81 (28 weeks, #14 peak)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=mr4VEbt4zSw
And now we're up to the highest non-top 10 entry. From here on in, they're all certified top 10 smashes! This song, which followed up last year's top 10 "Lips Of An Angel", which was my #7 song of 2006, continued in the same theme and same sound, and gave them a long-running song that more than made up for its lack of top 10 position. Fitting that they did it, given "Lips Of An Angel" was another near-miss, not going #1 despite spending 16 weeks in the top 10.
46. Justin Timberlake - LoveStoned
Chart run: 71-63-61-72-90-(off for 25 weeks)-78-26-16-6-4-3-3-3-5-8-10-15-24-30-47-68-89 (22 weeks, #3 peak)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=GIYXHLlxD8U
When first hearing this, I knew it had to be a single. However, when I heard that it wasn't gonna be the third single from "FutureSex/LoveSounds", I was disappointed... only to realize that "What Goes Around..." was the one that I liked better, as it's still to come! Then when this finally became the single, it shot up my chart fast, only to drop fast too... but still, due to its #3 peak, makes my year-end at #46. How high is the other mentioned Justin song?
45. Fall Out Boy - Thnks Fr Th Mmrs
Chart run: 96-73-70-50-38-31-21-11-9-8-7-12-13-15-17-19-26-28-36-44-72-91 (22 weeks, #7 peak)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=xWHf_vYZzQ8
These guys sure can't spell... either that, or they just don't like vowels! Fall Out Boy, after many attempts to try but not quite making it, finally got themselves a top 10 hit this year with "Thnks Fr Th Mmrs", which remains my favourite song from them. I doubt there'll be any more hits from "Infinity On High", but maybe 2008 will bring another album from them, along with more hits hopefully.
44. Rob Thomas - Little Wonders
Chart run: 39-31-22-15-13-12-11-10-13-18-20-23-26-26-27-30-32-40-45-61-83 (21 weeks, #10 peak)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=tIkFsVYWXxs
We just heard from Matchbox Twenty... now, here's Rob Thomas on his own from the "Meet The Robinsons" soundtrack! Unfortunately, movie hits weren't too plentiful in 2007, but there were still a few gems, this song included. Despite only reaching the top 10 for a single week, this song had longevity for me, which helps Rob on his own outrank his band for 2007. I haven't had many other cases of a band and one of their members charting on the same year-end chart, but it happened here.
43. Amy Winehouse - Back To Black
Chart run: 86-51-36-26-18-15-13-12-9-9-15-17-19-20-20-21-26-35-41-56-74-94 (22 weeks, #9 peak)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=aygAu1x2uQo
And now, here's the third appearance from Amy Winehouse, the title track from her latest album. This one was charting while "Rehab" and "You Know I'm No Good" were both still on, and I think all 3 songs were bulleted at the same time at one point! This gave Amy a domination that's unseen on my chart, and one that'll be remembered... how high did "You Know I'm No Good", her biggest hit of the year, rank?
42. James Blunt - 1973
Chart run: 40-34-28-22-18-16-13-12-10-8-9-11-15-19-20-21-29-41-50-74-87-99-still on (22 weeks, #8 peak)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=uWeqeQkjLto
Back to back British singers, and here's the first single from the long-awaited second album from James Blunt, "All The Lost Souls". This is an instantly catchy song that captured my attention immediately, and kept his momentum going strong. However, that splattered back as "Same Mistake", which followed this up, completely bombed on my chart! Hopefully there'll be more "All The Lost Souls" singles that'll get him back on the fast track for 2008!
41. Hilary Duff - With Love
Chart run: 41-27-16-9-5-3-3-2-3-4-7-16-25-32-38-42-76 (17 weeks, #2 peak)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=jwXxUTGNe2U
And now, here's a transformation in sound that was teased into by last year's hit "Play With Fire". This was an electro-pop stomper that was immediate for me, and shot straight up my chart, ending with a #2 peak, her second after "Come Clean"... but overall, only "So Yesterday" peaked higher, at #1. This is the second appearance for Hilary on this year-end, and her highest.

Freaky Fly Bry's Top 100 of 2007 (up to #31 posted)
40. Gwen Stefani - Now That You Got It
Chart run: 39-32-27-25-21-15-10-7-8-14-18-20-23-25-31-36-38-39-37-57-66-82-83-89-still on (24 weeks, #7 peak)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=dYxBURms7ao
2007 brought a renewal of interest in Gwen Stefani for me... and due to the success of the previous 2 singles (both of which are still to come), this song got instant impact when I found out it would be the next single from her album "The Sweet Escape". It ended up peaking inside the top 10, her third of four top 10 hits this year... and kicks off the top 40 of 2007. How high are "The Sweet Escape" and "4 In The Morning"... can either be #1?
39. Rihanna - Shut Up and Drive
Chart run: 94-71-48-33-21-11-8-4-4-6-7-6-11-11-12-17-24-40-50-76-90 (21 weeks, #4 peak)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=4WAapKx2TvM
Rihanna knows how to take classic bass lines and make them into something new for a new generation. This song takes the bass line from New Order's "Blue Monday", and re-invents it... it peaked at #4 on my chart, her highest peaking song of the year... but its lack of relative longevity hurt it on the year-end, only ranking as her third highest song of the year!
38. Celine Dion - Taking Chances
Chart run: 23-14-7-5-4-3-3-3-4-7-9-10-10-11-16-still on (15 weeks, #3 peak)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=RhtdXu1rc_0
When I heard the list of writers/producers for Celine Dion's latest album, I figured she'd deliver her best music in years. And that she did, with the song "Taking Chances", the title track from her latest album. This became her biggest hit on my chart since her #1 "That's The Way It Is" in 2000, reaching a peak of #3... and given the momentum of this single, she could very well score more appearances on my 2008 year-end.
37. Roz Bell - Yesterday Man
Chart run: 73-36-27-22-17-11-6-5-5-6-5-10-10-17-23-28-36-46-60-73-98 (21 weeks, #5 peak)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=L4EAP25TkVQ
Roz Bell is one of Canada's finest newcomers of the year... with two appearances in my year-end top 100. This, the highest, is his debut single, which became a big hit across Canada, and reached the top 5 on my chart, finishing the year at #37. Not a bad first year for him... hopefully there'll be more hits to come from "The First Sunbeams"!
36. Rihanna - Don't Stop The Music
Chart run: 89-55-53-44-37-26-17-12-9-8-6-6-6-10-12-17-23-24-30-38-39-still on (21 weeks, #6 peak)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=xsRWpK4pf90
And here's another Rihanna song, with another 80's sample! This one takes the chant from Michael Jackson's "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'" (which itself is sampled), and turned it into one of many hooks in this catchy, dance floor ready hit. In some parts of the world, Canada included, this song was released simultaneously with "Hate That I Love You", while other places like the US and UK are getting this as the follow-up, and this could figure in some 2008 year-end charts too! There's a good chance that a 5th single from "Good Girl Gone Bad" could show up on 2008's year-end for me, depending on what's released next.
35. Nelly Furtado - Say It Right
Chart run: 76-63-45-39-28-14-6-4-3-3-1-2-2-4-5-5-9-11-13-17-23-29-29-35-39-55-73-90 (28 weeks, #1 peak for 1 week)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=AO6SnX9s5-w
And now, we get to the first #1 of 2007. This song, after 6 years of waiting, finally gave one of Canada's biggest stars a #1 on my chart ("Turn Off The Light" was my #1 of 2001, but never topped my weekly chart.) However, as it started its run in 2006, it ends up lower than it would've had its full chart run been taken into account... so as a result, a song that didn't reach #1 from her beat it out! How high is "All Good Things (Come To An End)"?
34. Elliott Yamin - Wait For You
Chart run: 89-49-37-25-18-15-14-13-12-15-16-18-16-12-12-10-14-20-22-27-49-65 (22 weeks, #10 peak)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=MEskpfHOTAk
American Idol has had many big stars come out of it, but the 5th season has to be one with the most runners-up charting... and doing much better than the winner! In most other seasons, the winner did the best, but this was one case where the winner was completely outstaged! And one of the singers who did it was Elliott Yamin, whose debut single on my chart reached the top 10, and comes in at #34 for the entire year.
33. John Morris - Mercy
Chart run: 65-30-19-14-11-8-6-6-6-6-7-8-10-15-23-28-38-39-67-73-93 (21 weeks, #6 peak)
John Morris had released previous songs in 2001-03, but hadn't released anything since... a comeback had been promised, and finally delivered in 2007 with this, which became his first top 10 on my chart. This became my favourite single from him with among his best lyrical content to date, and finishes the year at #33. Hopefully John will release a new single in 2008 to follow this up!
32. Leona Lewis - Bleeding Love
Chart run: 87-21-11-7-5-4-2-2-1-2-2-4-5-6-still on (14 weeks, #1 peak for 1 week)

Another reality show winner, this time from the UK's X Factor. Leona Lewis oozes comparisons to many early 90's divas, and carries the sound over to a new generation. This song, co-written by Ryan Tedder (of OneRepublic) and Jesse McCartney, became the UK's biggest selling single of 2007, and is preparing for a US release in 2008. This song reached #1 on my chart for a single week, and becomes my #32 song of 2007. Will it appear again in 2008, or will she have another song on my 2008 year-end?

I'd somewhat enjoyed many past Travis songs... but this song I really liked. This became my favourite single from them thus far, becoming one of 2007's biggest surprises for me. This reached #7 on my weekly chart, and just misses my top 30 of the year. Unfortunately, the follow-ups failed to live up to expectations, but hopefully they'll manage to grab themselves another hit sometime in the future!
