Installment #1 of my top 120 singles of 2006 begins now!
Just as it's been since 2003, songs that I premiered on The TC 10 will appear in
gray. Songs that went on to debut in my top ten at some point will appear in
blue. Songs that spent 10 weeks on the countdown and retired will appear in
red. I've also added some songs that were never on The TC 10 at all, and those will appear in
purple.
Stats determined the placement of everything except those additional songs. With that said, let's get this going...
The comeback single. I could never decide whether or not I even liked this, but here it is.
Left over from 2005, this single went nowhere, and the real pity is the state of Weezer these days.
It doesn't quite match the late Blink 182, but at least these guys don't claim to change the world.
KROQ's Almost Acoustic Christmas was the only reason I gave this a chance. Pretty good.
This is one of those songs you almost hate to love, but damn it sure is addictive. Can't turn it off.
Probably not even a single, but a fantastic cover of an all-time classic. These guys are great.
Chalk this up on the list of generic rock songs I ignored at first and then it managed to win me over.
At first, I wrote off B's new music. Then I listened to this surprisingly good song. It's amazing.
Her new stuff is really top notch. I've secretly liked her all along, and now I can actually admit it.
For some reason, I end up liking just about anything Avril ever makes. This is no exception.
Stay tuned tomorrow for installment #2, which will take us from 110 through 101!
