First of all, for me, the question is flawed as I don't think it's acceptable to hit anyone, but I believe there are certain, more extreme situations where it becomes acceptable.
In fight or flight situations, I am the type of person who always chooses the "flight" option and avoid any violence whatsoever. However, sometimes in my life I may be in positions where I will have to choose the "fight" option (for example, an intruder in the house) where the intruder may in fact be female.
In certain less extreme, where the woman is a physical aggressor, many arguements have been in relation to self defense and along the lines of "if someone is willing to fight, then they can't expect it to be one-way". Again, for me I'm s**t scared of physical confrontation so I would rarely feel the need to hit back (it all depends on the situation).
It would be interesting to hear your views as there was a variety of different opinions in the earlier thread and obviously the way people answer this would be on how they interpret the question, especially the part "ever acceptable" but I couldn't think of a better one

Why is it socially accepted when a woman hits a (or her) man but if its the other way it is nearly a crime?
A saying we have here says "a man can never hit a woman, not even with a flower".
But I guess that if the woman goes mental/hysteric and starts hitting the man with no control he has the right to defend his wig.
The main argument for women hitting men being okay is generally that women aren't as strong as men, and therefore a woman hitting a man doesn't inflict as much pain as a man hitting a woman.
I'm not saying it's a good argument, but that's generally why it's more socially acceptable for men to be expected to take a hit.
A woman breaks into a man's house and stabs his wife and two children to death. She then lunges at him with the same knife. Does "never" extend to this circumstance? I'd ask you to reconsider that one.
You people are making outrageous scenarios that will probably never happen to justify domestic violence
If it's that bad, the law will take care of it. But morally, the man should look at the situation and realise it's not worth the court case. Only cowards hit women.
