Nicole has the best voice among the girls, so it's quite logical to appoint most parts of the songs to her vocals because she can easily pull them off. And I think Nicole was hired to be the VOCALIST initially and I believe it's an open knowledge to all the girls. The question is, why rebel now?

The girls were actually getting more screentime and attention and actually were able to sing during the 'PCD' era. The 'Doll Domination' era is when it all began. Most of the songs on the album are from Nicole's failed solo career.
i agree about the Jessica Simpson comment but Ashlee can't sing. Britney at least has a voice, she just doesn't use it. Ashlee can't sing even if she was held at gun point.
