Coldplay debuts at No. 9 on Billboard's Hot Rock Songs chart with "Miracles," an original song written and recorded for the Universal Pictures film Unbroken. The track starts with 92 percent of its chart points from sales, with 28,000 downloads sold, according to Nielsen Music.
The Unbroken soundtrack was released on Dec. 15 and the film, directed by Angelina Jolie, opened on Christmas Day. The movie is based on the real-life story of Olympian and prisoner-of-war Louis "Louie" Zamperini.
Coldplay reaches the Hot Rock Songs top 10 for the first time since the band tallied its first No. 1, "A Sky Full of Stars." The cut, from the band's latest album Ghost Stories, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in May, led Hot Rock Songs for six total weeks between May and October.
Also on Hot Rock Songs, Modest Mouse debuts at No. 20 with "Lampshades on Fire," the alternative band's first single since 2007. The track also starts at No. 15 on Alternative Songs, marking the group's highest debut on the chart.
