Quote:
Tyra Banks is going face-to-face with her long-time rival Naomi Campbell, in a bid to clear the air between the two legendary catwalkers.
Banks has invited Campbell on her talk show to discuss their alleged rift, which caused Banks to quite modelling because she was so sick and tired of the business pitting her and the Brit against each other.
The 31-year-old says that the media and the modelling industry fuelled the fires of the feud between her and the 35-year-old Campbell, which has lasted for 14 years.
Banks says that the industry's refusal to allow any more than one black supermodel meant that she fled the profession in a bid to escape Naomi's shadow.
Now, the pair are hoping to put said and unsaid bitterness behind them - assuming the notoriously flaky Campbell actually shows up for the interview.

When I was reading that I was surprised about the industry/media pitting them against each other and the only reason why they would obviously do it I thought was because they are both black and yes there are other black models but not on the very well known levels. I saw that was Tyra's view as well and I also thought, they should have supported them both instead of compared and I don't see how they could have compared them anyway because Naomi is like a pillar of models, not just a supermodel but one of THE supermodels, her peers would be people like Claudia Schiffer, Elle Macpherson, Cindy Crawford and Linda Evangalista, they and a few others make up the upper echelons of the public models and again the only reason why they would compare them is because they are black and would probably stir **** like, Tyra the new Naomi or is she taking Naomi's place etc. It's so ridiculous, in an industry where there are so few of a category in the limelight they shouldn't make them into supposed rivals, and yet they wonder as an industry why they are accused of sending negative messages.
Like the article said, it should be interesting if Naomi shows up, we'll see if they set the record straight or whether over all those years all that stigma got too personal to overcome.
