Remarkably chart news: 21, the new album by British singer Adele, this week sold more copies than the rest of the top 100 together. This appears from the Top 100 album, compiled by research firm GfK, based on sales. Record label V2 has announced the first week 100,000 copies of 21 have been delivered, good for double platinum, for a boost in record stores usually lean months in January.
GfK provides an index of albums that chart the relationships between the various quotations displays. The number 1 will be given the index 100, the number two this week - Bruno Mars - gets 8, Number 3 Caro Emerald 5. All albums from 33 get the index number 0. Research company GfK showed to journalist Werner Schlosser know that Adele "more than" sold "over the entire top 100 album together.
21 is the successor to the 19 debut album two years ago, which is also a great commercial success, but this took a quiet start. The promotional campaign for 21 began last Friday in the finale of the hit TV show The Voice Of Holland, where Adele including her single In The Deep Rolling sang. Read the interview that Adele had 3VOOR12 recently.

WOW, amazing sales!
She looks great in that picture. I hate when people say she's ugly because she's not. 21 is going to be one of the biggest selling albums of the year WW, I just don't know if she'll be able to break into the US. I hope she can, she's made inroads in the past.

WTF!!????
OMFG!!
She really is deserving of this success.
And she will do around 300K in the UK + another 100K in Germany.
She could easily be around 600K worldwide this week (WITHOUT THE US or Canada)

I was just about to say that article was poorly written. I didn't realise it was a google translation.

I think her album will do very well in the US. I could even see a 150-200K opening week (maybe that is only in my wildest dreams - but it could happen).
Rolling In the Deep is Top 50 on iTunes, which is a good indication. 21 is doing well on pre-orders. She's gaining hype.

The goal here is straightforward: "We want a No. 1 record," Greer says. Still, Barnett is quick to point out that Columbia's dedication to "21" extends far beyond the album's opening frame. He says he hears five singles and envisions working the disc at least through the 2012 Grammys.
Adele is scheduled to appear Feb. 18 on "Today," Feb. 21 on "Late Show With David Letterman," Feb. 24 on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" and "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" and Feb. 28 on CBS' "The Early Show." Additionally, Greer says, "Rolling in the Deep" figures prominently in a scene in "I Am Number Four," a Michael Bay-produced sci-fi film due in theaters Feb. 18.
Beginning Feb. 1, Baker says, the site will host a "21 Days of Adele" promotion with exclusive daily content including a live chat and a video of Adele explaining the inspiration for an album track. NPR Music is also set to stream "21" the week of Feb. 7 as part of its First Listen series.
