Beyonce looks set to hold onto top ARIA album spot in Australia while Pharrell looks equally comfortable to maintain the top of the ARIA singles chart, reports Gavin Ryan.
My first mid-week report for 2014 sees not much movement at the top of the Australian charts for this week, but lots of new tunes are jumping up the charts.
Beyonce looks set to hold onto the No.1 spot on the ARIA Albums chart this coming weekend with her self-titled fifth studio album, and first to hit No.1 here, and with London Grammar climbing the charts with the remix of “Strong” and their tour here this week, we could see their album “If You Wait” return to its original entry position of No.2 (Sept 2013).
Retaining their Top 10 status this week could be Lorde, Avicii, Imagine Dragons and Eminem, whilst Arctic Monkeys May ticket-sales could help boost their “AM” album up again (TW-12). Last weeks two new entries of the soundtracks for “Frozen” and “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty” should both jump up this week, with Frozen potentially headed for the Top 10, Walter possibly within the Top 20.
The only new major album released last week is the second album for James Vincent McMorrow entitled “Post Tropical”, which could debut within the Top 10, whilst his debut album “Early in the Morning” made it to No.94 here back in April 2013. After dropping last week, Justin Bieber’s “The Journals” album could jump back up this week, whilst the recent TV screening of the biopic ‘Notorious’ could see the rapper’s “Greatest Hits” debut this week.
