It seems that many artists are popular, or may achieve legendary status for achievements in Grammys/Sales/Charts. Beyoncé has a record amount of Grammys, Britney her sales and GaGa/Rihanna/Katy for they're domination in the charts.
Sales are now more important for an artist. Labels dont really care about the number of Grammys their acts garner nowadays. It's a business and if your music is not selling it shows that the general public is not interested in what you are putting out. Plus, its the only way to stay relevant. Using Britney as an example, she was never a huge Grammy favorite but that didnt prevent her from being a dominant force. In the end Sales trumps everything.
Sales/charts are more important, IMO. Mariah Carey has 5 Grammys out of her entire career, more than half coming from the emancipation. Her lack of Grammys shouldn't taint the obvious love the public had for her.

Sales and charts. The music industry is strictly business, your label is only caring about the pay check. Grammys are nice but in the end it all comes down to how the general public reacts to your music.

To me the Grammys are the most important because critical acclaim from the committee, world and peers>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>some generic dance piece of **** to get a fast #1 hit.
