New Ferguson Evidence Supports Police Officer
Quote:
Evidence supports officer’s account of shooting in Ferguson
Ferguson, Mo., police officer Darren Wilson and Michael Brown fought for control of the officer’s gun, and Wilson fatally shot the unarmed teenager after he moved toward the officer as they faced off in the street, according to interviews, news accounts and the full report of the St. Louis County autopsy of Brown’s body.
Because Wilson is white and Brown was black, the case has ignited intense debate over how police interact with African American men. But more than a half-dozen unnamed black witnesses have provided testimony to a St. Louis County grand jury that largely supports Wilson’s account of events of Aug. 9, according to several people familiar with the investigation who spoke with The Washington Post.
Some of the physical evidence — including blood spatter analysis, shell casings and ballistics tests — also supports Wilson’s account of the shooting, The Post’s sources said, which casts Brown as an aggressor who threatened the officer’s life. The sources spoke on the condition of anonymity because they are prohibited from publicly discussing the case.

Still not sure what to make of it, and part of me thinks the police officer was simply wrong for killing him, but this new evidence and testimonies from witnesses is interesting.

Finally, can we move on? This has been a distraction from real issues for too long. I can't believe the massive amount of sympathy for a crazed thug.

If this were true they would have led with this and not done everything in their power to hide the truth and the identity of the office in question. Outside of the actual shooting itself, the way the protests were handled by the Ferguson PD was terrible.

If he's found innocent people are going to be so pressed regardless of any evidence that comes to light.

If the officer was black, no one would care.
I'm black and come from a black area on the east coast. When black people do something to each other, no one cares. When someone of another color does it, there's an uproar.
There could be video of the entire incident defending the officer, and black people will still make up some excuse to attack him.
I would love Chicago, Camden, Compton, etc to have an uproar about the violence that goes on there. But sadly, that will never happen as long as the perpetrators are black. It says a lot about our culture that we're still not independent and constantly feel the need to be looked at as victims, yet we always talk about how strong we are.

I agree with all of the above, particularly the bold section. There's been a sense of blame-the-cops mindset that absolves people any responsibility for their criminal behaviours.

Nnnggg, first we found out Vonderrit had a stolen gun (or "sandwich," as the news proclaimed) he fired at an officer and now Darren Wilson is confirmed to be telling the truth. Our state senator went to jail for nothing
At least SLU changed some policies.

You need to look at things more rationally. How could they have lead with test results when they just recently finished testing? You have no grasp of how our justice system works. The police can claim what happened, but they can't start pouring out the evidence until it's proven and, because this trial has switched hands to a higher governing body, the tests have been run and re-run to make sure there was absolutely no bias. The minute the evidence was verified, it was presented.
