I believe everything that broken because of the problems should be fixed, if not please post here, and I will get them fixed ASAP.
Other than that I have enabled logging on the server to try and track down the actual cause of the slowness. Now the only problem with this is adds extra processes onto the server so it slows it down. These logs though will help me adjust the settings better and hopefully solve this problem.
Update for 5/7/2011 12:55 PM EST
It seems that one of the backsup has done something to the blog component of the forum. It corrupted data in other parts of the database, so things may not work 100% if you notice anything OTHER THAN THE BLOG not working please let me know in this thread.
THE BLOG IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY, I am making every effort to get this back online asap.
You may also notice that the forum may be running slow, this is because I have installed and enabled several diagnostic tools. While this slows down the server, it will help us more adequately determine what is going on with our database.

Well I have noticed some slow down in the server, it seems we are out growing our server again. Our traffic continues to increase, almost exponentially. April 13th, 2011 was our busiest day ever, its increasing at rates that are hard to keep us with. I am re-evaluating what can be done once again, it seems that this is always the problem we get a new server and then we out grow the current one in a year or so. This time I can going to try and come up a more long term solution and hope that it will actually stick. Please if you have any suggestions I am open to those and I will keep you guys updated as soon I figure out what is actually going to happen.
Also feel free to let me know if you have any ideas on ways to improve the site. My new job has been eating up a lot of my time, but I think I'm finally to a point where I can get some work done on ATRL and try to bring some things together.
We should have some sort of donation day where each member donates $2 or some disclosed amount (nothing too big) to help with the maintenance of this site... could work.
I think the Facebook/Twitter feed should be regulated or discontinued. We could just use those mediums for actual site updates. We have NSFW threads like "Joe Jonas' dick" from Celebria getting posted and it makes us look really shady. On a less important note, hardly anybody follows the thread title guidelines for singles and albums in Music News, so that is pretty annoying to see on Facebook every day. Also, happy birthday Joe Camel! WOOOOOOOOO~!
It's a big year for music, I guess it was bound to happen. Nothing is more horrendous than the server we had before 2009. The server crashed too often and left a bitter taste in your mouth about how frusting it really could be. I suspect the amount of traffic on the site will only pick up once the summer begins.

First of all, happy birthday Joe! (Off topiv though )
And wow at the increasing traffic. I want to agree with kerihill's idea but most members are still students which means they can't have money to donate.
Thank you Joe and the mods for continuously improving the site.
