Petition to deport Justin Bieber heads to the White House
The online petition garnered more than 100,000 signatures as of Wednesday afternoon and called for the 'dangerous' and 'destructive' Canadian to return to his home country. Petitions on WhiteHouse.gov that amass more than 100,000 signatures get an official response from White House staff, and Bieber's comes after his arrest for DUI and drag racing in Miami Beach last week.
Justin Bieber better hope Sasha and Malia are Beliebers.
An online petition asking President Obama to deport the "dangerous" and "destructive" Canadian singer has garnered enough support on the WhiteHouse.gov website to earn an official review by the Oval Office.
The petition, started last Thursday just hours after the 19-year-old crooner's drag racing bust in Miami Beach, quickly amassed the 100,000 digital signatures needed to ensure some type of response from White House staff.
It had 105,978 supporters at 1 p.m. Wednesday.
A dueling petition, presumably started by Bieber's faithful following, calling for him to be allowed to remain in the U.S. had a paltry 1,503 signatures.
The anti-Bieber petition reads
: "We the people of the United States feel that we are being wrongly represented in the world of pop culture. We would like to see the dangerous, reckless, destructive, and drug abusing, Justin Bieber deported and his green card revoked."
"He is not only threatening the safety of our people but he is also a terrible influence on our nation's youth. We the people would like to remove Justin Bieber from our society," it continues.
The effort was started by an unidentified creator in Detroit.
