The xx mastermind and remixer of the moment Jamie xx released his new 12 inch single “Far Nearer” this week through rising indie Numbers.

“Far Nearer”, which clocks in at nearly 7 minutes, sees Jamie splashing a tropical flavor over the minimalist beats we’ve been hearing him produce on the remix circuit for the past few months. The single’s B-side “Beat For” is a little wilder, switching styles from post-dubstep to subtle 90′s raver keys.

While Jamie further carves out his solo career, he’s also doing double time by working on the new The xx sophomore album. The news comes as a relief to me, and I’m sure there other fans too, after the band stated last year that they had no plans to follow-up their flawless Mercury prize-winning debut.
