"Oops Upside Your Head" writers added to Uptown Funk credits
Quote:
A significant change has been made to the writing credits of Uptown Funk, the record-breaking track from Mark Ronson, featuring Bruno Mars.
Five new names have been added to the track’s publishing credits – Lonnie Simmons, Ronnie Wilson, Charles Wilson, Robert Wilson and Rudolph Taylor - the writers of The Gap Band’s 1979 R&B anthem Oops Up Side Your Head.
They join Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars, producer Jeff Bhasker and The Smeezingtons’ Philip Lawrence, as well as Nicholaus Williams and Devon Gallaspy who are credited for use of a sample from All Gold Everything by Trinidad James.
NSA-Minder has also been added to the list of publishers taking a share of Uptown Funk, with the Wilsons and Taylor all being on the company’s publishing roster. It joins BMG Rights, Imagem, Universal, Sony/ATV, TIG7 and Trinlanta.
At the time of writing, Uptown Funk has sold more than 1.7 million units in the UK and has just finished a 14-week stint at No.1 in the US.
I was expecting this outcome after the Blurred Lines verdict.
Charlie took a picture with Bruno as late as January:
Guess he was just waiting to see the outcome of the Marvin Gaye trial before he made his move. Charlie hinted back in March that Mark and Bruno would have to pay.
