So with this whole "Formation" thing, white people have been bashed for doing covers to the song. Even some were bashed just for dancing to it. This is a very political topic that has caused controversy with the general public. This raises a question.
Are "Pro-black" songs considered a contradiction? How would people respond to a "Pro-white" song?
Example:
"My daddy Alabama, Momma Louisiana
You mix that negro with that Creole make a Texas bama
I like my baby hair with baby hair and afros
I like my negro nose with Jackson Five nostrils
Earned all this money but they never take the country out me
I got a hot sauce in my bag, swag"
VS
"My daddy European, Momma Louisiana
If You mix that 'casian with that creole, then you cause some drama
I like my long blondy hairs, oh yes its natural
I like my pale skin, skinny nose with Wendy freckles
Earned all this credit but they never take the hillbilly off me
I had hot sex with my dad, swag"
No trolling, or hate. Just share your opinion and discuss. Any post that violate this will be reported to the mods.
According to what exactly. There are injustices in all shapes and forms.
Lmao this is such a typical ignorant white person response. White people dont need a pro-white song because they already live in a society where their community and features are praised and promoted as the norm.
No it's not contradictory (? that makes no sense to begin with in this context) for a traditionally disenfranchised group in a given social structure to have positive anthems. What would be the purpose of white people having a Formation or a Say It Loud etc. when they're already the dominant group in our culture? It would be reinforcing an already existing norm of white beauty standards and supremacy. The two things can't be considered equivalent because the two groups aren't in the same position.
Trace the history of "white power" and pro-white sentiment and you'll get your answer.
One thing I'm definitely tired of is white people asking why they can't say white power. Because your white ancestors used it for hundreds of years to kill, segregate, and belittle minorities. The fact this has to be constantly explained...

Someone is always going to be on "top". To see only white people are on top is kind of ironic considering our president of the united states is black.
#oops
Like 80% of the most powerful people in the world are white. Whites are the majority therefore they shouldn't act or be treated as if they have to overcome racially institutionalized prejudice.
Blonde hair, pale skin, and skinny noses are heralded as the standard of beauty. Why would someone who meets that standard need empowerment
That's the mindset YOU have though. I don't find those things superior in terms of "Beauty". Yes a lot of people find that to be the standard, but a lot of people don't as well. Including me. So....
The difference is, white people don't need a pro-white song.
