Billboard Hot 100 Singles (August 24-31, 2011)
Quote:
Things are spicier on the Digital Songs chart, where Lil Wayne's "She Will" (featuring Drake) becomes the fourth song to debut at No. 1 this year, shifting 255,000 downloads. It's the largest sales week for a single since LMFAO's "Party Rock Anthem" (featuring Lauren Bennett & GoonRock) spent its first frame at No. 1 on the tally dated July 16. "She Will" is the latest preview single from Wayne's "Tha Carter III," which drops at midnight on Sunday, Aug. 28.
Wayne bumps last week's No. 1, "Moves Like Jagger" by Maroon 5 featuring Christina Aguilera, down to No. 2 with 206,000 (down 6%). Foster the People's "Pumped Up Kicks" holds at No. 3 (172,000; up 10%) and Katy Perry's "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)" also is steady at No. 4 (154,000; down 1%). "Party Rock Anthem" slips 2-5 (148,000; down 8%) and Bad Meets Evil's "Lighters" (featuring Bruno Mars) falls one to No. 6 (139,000; down 6%).
The next three titles all sold a rounded 113,000 downloads last week, but were separated by less than 200 copies. Gym Class Heroes' "Stereo Hearts" (featuring Maroon 5's Adam Levine) jumps 12-7 (up 35%), Lil Wayne's "How to Love" stays put at No. 8 (down 1%) and OneRepublic's "Good Life" rises 11-9 (up 17%).
Closing out the Digital Songs top 10 is Nicki Minaj's "Super Bass," falling 7-10 with 107,000 (down 16%).
Overall album sales in this past chart week (ending Aug. 21) totaled 5.35 million units, down 10% compared to the sum last week (5.96 million) and up 5% compared to the comparable sales week of 2010 (5.08 million). Year to date album sales stand at 194.78 million, up 2% compared to the same total at this point last year (190.21 million). It is the 13th week in a row where year-to-date album volume is greater than the same time in the prior year.
Digital track sales this past week totaled 23.12 million downloads, up 1% compared to last week (22.82 million) and up 14% stacked next to the comparable week of 2010 (20.33 million). Year to date track sales are at 823.45 million, up 11% compared to the same total at this point last year (742.45 million).

It doesn't look like Wayne was much of a threat to Katy.

"Moves Like Jagger" is certainly a lock for #1 next week. Foster The People will probably move up to #2 with Katy free-falling on radio and sales.
I'm ready for the charts to change up. We had a slow summer.

I knew Wayne wouldn't debut at #1. He's no GaGa, Britney or Eminem. These artists who fly up so fast to #1 on iTunes do not really hold up well in the end.

Your forgot Ke$ha Well, there are just 20 songs that debut at #1.. it's really hard to do that, it's not an easy thing
