ATRL's #1 tournament game has returned!
Platinum Hit is ATRL's very own songwriting competition, adapted from the 2011 television series of the same name. Each week, contestants will be required to write and submit lyrics for an original song. A panel of judges will assess the entries and after each round, we will lose a number of contestants until there is only one winner.

What do I write about?
You may write about anything you wish. However, each week there will be a different challenge designed to test different aspects of your songwriting abilities. As long as your song adheres to the challenge, anything else is fair game!
I've never written a song before…
That's not a problem at all. Experienced writers can flop in this game while new writers can also fair incredibly well. Platinum Hit is all about growth, whether it's your first time competing and writing or your fourth. Platinum Hit is one ATRL game that actually puts a valuable skill to test, and even though contestants do get eliminated, our judges do genuinely want to see some great songs and witness growth in everyone.
Where do I even start?
Some tools for writing that the judges (and contestants) would recommend would be Rhymezone, Rappad, B-rhymes, and this guide to help you understand meter and stressing. A Thesaurus honest to god helps out a LOT with word choice as well. If you're still struggling, please, don't hesitate to post in the thread and ask the judges or contestants for help and advice. This may seem like a lot now, but you'll get the hang of it incredibly fast.
When will results be posted?
Challenges will come on Sunday, deadlines will be Thursday/Friday, reviews will come Saturday and Sunday with Results coming on Sunday. The goal for this season is to have each round last one week. The ONE exception to this schedule will be the first round, which will be announced Thursday, May 12th.
Can I submit a song late?
Ugh, yes, but you'll be penalized for it. You have 24 hours after the posted deadline to submit your song. For each hour that your submission is late, 1/10th of a point will be deducted from your score. After 24 hours past the deadline, your submission will not be accepted. We're going to have to be stern with deadlines since we can't verify excuses and we have to be fair to everyone, but if you have an extenuating circumstance and let the judges know well before the deadline that something is happening, we can try to work something out. We want everyone to have a fair shot at this competition.
Can I resubmit my song before the deadline?
Yes. You may resubmit once per round.
Note: Resubmissions may NOT be submitted after a judge's reviews have been posted! Late resubmissions will be a case-by-case basis.
The songs that get the best reviews would never be Platinum hits.
That's probably true, but since we're only working with lyrics as opposed to full blown songs with melodies, instrumentations, and even music videos, we're looking for the best lyrics. Though if someone on the original Platinum Hit show wrote Rihanna's "Work," they probably would've won, that same song would more than likely tank in this game because the lyrics aren't that great by themselves. There are plenty of hit songs - or songs from hit artists - that have incredible lyrics that would do well in this game regardless. You can have both.
