She deserves way more recognition in my opinion.Bitch made some really great pop videos and great pop songs.She sold over 100 million records worldwide and had many US number 1 songs.
All she is known in my country is for being MJ's younger sister (I live in Europe btw )

Yeah she's known as MJs sister in the UK too. She had a couple of songs released here but I think she paid Europe dust cos I didn't really know of her music when growing up so i'm always astounded to see her musical feats and the way people defend her against todays artists.

I say this all the time, Janet is SO underrated.

And yes, Britney's career was more influenced by Janet than Medoner. Madge is only more prevalent NOW since they worked together in 2003, and Brit and Madonna are friends.

Janet is probably one of the most important female Pop stars ever. She spawned a generation of female stars. She is probably the second Black female to both dance AND sing after Tina Turner. It's pretty bothersome tbh.

Because she was overshadowed by her brother aka king of pop.

Because most of you only know Janet from Superbowl on, a time when she wasn't having the success she once had, and her presence greatly diminished. So there was really no need to pay much attention to her.

Unbeknown to many of you, there was a period of time when Janet was bigger than Michael and Madonna globally. She sold millions of albums, sold out arenas and stadiums around the globe, and had hits in all of the countries ppl claim she's not known in.

But at the end of the day, your fave looks up to her or is inspired by her.

Her career has been downplayed so much, it's a shame.

No, Janet is pretty muh female Michael except a whole lot less wholesome image wise and not as great a vocalist. It's obvious in how Janet performs.

lol she isn't known for just being Mike's little sister. Though she doesn't mind it because that's the role she's always played when they were growing up. Janet has made a name for herself based off her own merit. She's never piggybacked off her brother's success contrary to popular belief.

She's a pioneer and has set the standard for a female dancer and has pushed the limits (along with Madonna) in pop culture with being provocative. She has also paved the way and opened the door for the female entertainers of today. She isn't hardly forgotten. Not to those who are actually familiar with pop culture pre-1999.
