Dekkan's 2016 Charts | Best Songs [16-20]
Dekkan's 2016 Year-End Charts
I wanted to do my own Year-End charts this year for the first time, but I didn't have time to start when the 'Best of 2016' opened, 'cause you know - university, exams and stuff. I've been really lazy since my Christmas break started, so yesterday I decided I'm going to do it. Unfortunately, I'm at my parents' house until Saturday and I don't have Adobe Photoshop here, so I'm going to update the OP with some pictures later. I hope you'll understand and of course, I would love you to be active in this thread through next days and share your thoughts with me.
I decided to include Worst Songs and Worst Albums charts, but remember, I do not want to offend anyone, as I'm just going to share my subjective opinions with you. It's not a place for ruthless lashings, you know - we have SYG.
40 Best Songs [Dec 29-30]
10 Worst Songs [Dec 31]
7 Best Albums [Jan 2]
3 Worst Albums [Jan 2]
3 Best Females [Jan 3]
3 Best Males [Jan 3]
Artist of the Year [Jan 3]
I'm going to start posting my charts immediately and you'll get to know #21-#40 songs on my 40 Best Songs of 2016 Chart today. 4 posts, with 5 songs each.

Perfect Strangers
Jonas Blue featuring JP Cooper
The year of 2016 was dominated by tropical house sound, especially in European music. Jonas Blue, after huge success of his version of Fast Car, served a great summer bop, which accompanied me on my trips and at parties.
#39
Error
Natalia Nykiel
We all know what future 99% of talent shows contestants have in the industry. Basically, none. Somehow, Natalia proved herself with her single Bądź duży, which was a smash hit in Poland, but Error is everything Polish pop scene needed. This electropop bop was everywhere in my country, ever since Natalia released the song.
#38
Lost On You
LP
This soulful anthem was everywhere in Europe this year. It's such a good song with really, really powerful chorus. Laura's voice shines and melts your heart.
#37
I Wanna Know
Alesso featuring Nico & Vinz
Have you ever met a person, at a party for example, and immediately felt fascinated and overwhelmed by his/her beauty? I'm sure your answer is yes and this is exactly what this song is about. Alesso provided fantastic melody and Nico & Vinz blessed this track with their soothing vocals. Such a cute song.
#36
Chantaje
Shakira featuring Maluma
I've been waiting for Shakira to release something for a long time and I'm definitely not disappointed. A bop and a half. And Maluma makes me sweat even when I don't look at his pictures.

Daddy Lessons
Beyoncé
Even though Beyoncé's new album Lemonade is definitely not my cup of tea musically as a whole, there's one thing we all have to admit – she tried to push her artistic boundaries even further than with self-titled and didn't disappoint. When I heard this song, I couldn't believe it. But here we are – living in the world, where Bey is singing country and it's a highlight of the album.
#34
Higher
Rihanna
I've been excited to hear this track ever since Rihanna posted two snippets of it on her Instagram. It's a beautiful soulful ballad, where she explores her screechy, raspy vocals in a way she never did before. This track reflects the moment when you're all alone, drunk and desperately need the attention from the person you love.
#33
This Girl
Kungs
I was dancing whole summer to this song. It still makes me feel good and that's the purpose of such songs, just brilliant.
#32
Final Song
MŘ
MŘ delivered a song that can be interpreted in two ways in my opinion: it's either about melody of our hearts, when we're in love or about our love for music. I love how atmosphere of verses and chorus is really different, it makes the song even more interesting.
#31
Mercy
Shawn Mendes
I won't lie – I'm in love with Shawn's voice. He's a really talented kid and you can see that he wanted to show the world a bit more mature sound with his second album. Maybe it's not the catchiest song of Illuminate, but it's definitely outstanding. This boy sounds like an angel. The „Show me an open door” line makes me weak, every single time. Oh, and the bridge is fantastic.

Pedophile
Cupcakke
The most promising female rapper of this decade might seem like a joke to many people, but she's unapologetic, not afraid of talking about hard topics and incredibly talented lyrically. The title of this song, Cupcakke's image and the beat that hit you at the very begginning of the song might indicate that the track is fun and optimistic. Nothing could be further from the truth, as it's about her personal tragedy. Brilliant mix of dramatic lyrics and melody that makes you wanna dance.
#29
Hands Free
Keke Palmer
Keke delivered one of the most sensual songs of the year. Production of the track is absolutely stunning and with Keke's charisma carrying the lyrics, this mix makes a great effort. By the way, music video elevates the song even more.
#28
Knew Better / Forever Boy
Ariana Grande
This track is actually a mix of two songs – the first about a boy who's a total disappointment to Ariana, then we receive absolutely incredible transition (honestly, one of my favourite moments in music this year) to the second part, which is about another boy that finally makes the artist be willing to commit. The production is incredible and Ariana's vocals elevate the track. Definitely a highlight of Dangerous Woman.
#27
Human
Rag'n'Bone Man
You'll never meet a perfect person, nor are you one. We all have our problems, we all have our bad moments, 'cause we're only human. Very soulful and touching track, with real, deep voice behind.
#26
Jak Dawniej
Agnieszka Chylińska
Agnieszka is definitely one of the most brave Polish artists musically. I have never heard about a rockstar that would release a dance album as good as she did 7 years ago. This time she mixed her rock, aggresive roots and fresh electronic sound and still remained herself. This track is about the relationship with her husband. She want the old times back, times where she was happy, loved and supported.

This Girl is cute and tolerable. Hands Free Daddy Lessons + Higher Both are solid album cuts.
Knew Better/Forever Boy is among my least favorites from DW but even my bottom 3-5 are pretty great.
CupcakKe's LGBT better be on here!

Hey, nice to see some more Charts representation in the Best Of forum!
This Girl is quite nice and definitely danceable.
Final Song and Perfect Strangers aren't bad at all, though both are a little bit transient imo. I need to check out Chantaje.

Banana Brain
Die Antwoord
When my friend played the song for me, I was speechless. It's the definition of an earworm, mainly because of the magnificent production. The group has its own identity and their oddity makes this lowkey psychedelic song even better.

Congratulations
Rachel Platten
Fight Song was cute for the first 3 listens, but aged like a bread. Still, out of pure boredom I decided that I want to listen to Rachel's album. And I'm really glad I did it, 'cause I found this beautiful song that speaks right to my soul. Maybe it's because I can relate to the lyrics, as once I felt completely destroyed after the relationship. Rachel's voice has this strange layer in her voice that's beyond annoying in songs like Stand By You, yet makes Congratulations a fantastic track.
#23
Should've Been Me
Naughty Boy featuring Kyla, Popcaan
I discovered this track one week ago and it's so good I had to include it on this chart. I love that dancehall, reggae or afrobeat are becoming more and more mainstream. This song is incredibly chatchy and I love Kyla's vocals. Let's pray it smashes in 2017.
#22
Praying to a God
Nico & Vinz
I really love Nico & Vinz, their soothing vocals and optimistic music, but they outdid themselves with this dramatic song about drug abuse. When I heard it for the first time, I cried like a little baby.
#21
Ain't My Fault
Zara Larsson
I've discovered Zara Larsson many years ago, as a child, when she was a child too and slayed Sweden's Got Talent audition. I was so happy when I discovered her debut album and I've been rooting for her ever since, 'cause the potential was there. She bought me with Lush Life in 2015 and I fell in love with her charisma. And it's mainly charisma that carries Ain't My Fault, charisma that's nowhere to be seen among new girls trying to breakout. It's a great pop song and I'm sure Zara will deliver once and once again next year.

Congratulations is alright. I'm one of the few people on here that doesn't hate Rachel, but her album could've been better overall.
Ain't My Fault is a cute bop

Taped Up Heart
Kream featuring Clara Mae
Every person who knows me, knows that I love EDM as well. And to be honest, this track contains one of my favourite beats I've heard this year. And the song is incredibly catchy.
#19
Work
Rihanna featuring Drake
I was really, really excited when Rihanna released this song, but I have to admit, I didn't like it at the first listen and it actually grew on me. I appreciate that she recorded a dancehall song, made it a lead single and what is the most important for me, the fact that she sang it using patois. It feels genuine and in my opinion, her enunciation makes the chorus even more catchy.
#18
Rear View
Zayn
As a native speaker of Polish, I'm not able to judge the lyrics of any English song objectively, but I have to admit – I love the lyrics of Rear View. The track in general is absolutely beautiful and touching, elevated by Zayn's vocals even more.
#17
Sola
Becky G
Let's be honest, Becky stomped with this song. I think we all know the feeling she's singing about. We all had enough at some point, we all wanted to be finally free. On top of that, the production is really sexual, which makes the track a fantastic bop.
#16
Medicine
Ferras featuring Raja Kumari
I want to say big 'thank you' to three people now. Thank you dear someone from Stand Your Ground, 'cause I know this song because of you. Thank you Katy Perry for signing Ferras. And eventually, thank you Ferras for delivering such a tune. What a bop, I love it.

I totally agree that Work is one of the most sincere songs (if not the most) Rihanna has ever recorded. It grew on me as well, though I still prefer the verses to the hook.
