Ellie Goulding spends fourth week at Number 1 on Official Singles Chart
Ellie Goulding’s Love Me Like You Do, taken from hit movie Fifty Shades Of Grey, celebrates a month at the top of the Official Singles Chart this week. And after setting a new streaming record last week, Love Me Like You Do continues its success, racking up over 2.3 million listens to become the most streamed track of the week.
Nine other songs have seen over one million streams this week: Mark Ronson’s Uptown Funk FT Bruno Mars (1.8m), Hozier’s Take Me To Church (1.78m), The Weeknd’s Earned It (1.49m), Ed Sheeran’s Thinking Out Loud (1.4m), Maroon 5’s Sugar (1.26m), Sia’s Elastic Heart (1.21m), James Bay’s Hold Back The River (1.17m), Chris Brown & Tyga’s Ayo, and Avicii’s The Nights (1.02m).
Hozier’s Take Me To Church spends its third consecutive week at Number 2, while former Number 1 and newest million-seller Uptown Funk, by Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars, holds firm at Number 3.
The Weeknd’s Fifty Shades Of Grey track Earned It is a non-mover at Number 4, while Rihanna, Kanye West and Paul McCartney’s collaboration FourFiveSeconds rounds off the Top 5.
New entries and high climbers
David Guetta and Emeli Sandé’s What I Did For Love makes the Top 10 for the first time, leaping fourteen places to Number 6.
It’s a ninth Top 10 hit for US singer and very first American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson – Heartbeat Song is the week’s highest new entry at Number 7.
Superstar DJs Axwell & Ingrosso team up on a new entry at Number 22 called, fittingly, Something New.
London dance outfit Disciples are new at Number 24 with They Don’t Know, and Madonna returns to the Top 40. Following the star’s well-publicised onstage tumble at the BRIT Awards, Living For Love enters at Number 26, after just four days on sale.
Other songs feeling the BRITs effect include Sam Smith’s Lay Me Down, rocketing 73 places to Number 15 after the star took home two awards at Wednesday’s event.
Budapest goes back up 12 to land at Number 18 for BRIT nominee George Ezra and British Female award winner Paloma Faith sees Only Love Can Hurt Like This zoom 70 places to return to the Top 40 at Number 32.
Award winner Ed Sheeran has three tracks breaking into the Top 40 – Bloodstream, which he performed on the night, leaps 154 places at Number 35, while former Number 1 Sing and recent Top 10 Don’t are at 38 and 40 respectively.
