Beyoncé has, since I was five years old at least, been known for her female empowerment music: Her embodiment of, not just a strong
black woman, but a
strong woman through her art. Each of her albums had very strong female empowerment themes and it's been her thing since Destiny's Child.
So much so that here at ATRL before her latest album release, people were claiming that her female empowerment is "
dated", and she needs a new spiel.
Even those that supported female empowerment, felt that Beyoncé was too "focused" on female empowerment.

What I would say is that Beyoncé is too focused on that when she should expand her audience.

But now, people are saying that Beyoncé is just "jumping on a fad" and using it for promo. Yet the Google Trends for the topic of feminism showed a sharp decline in interest since 2005, and then a rise after the end of 2013.
Why are people suddenly trying to discredit her form of feminism and female empowerment, and make it out to be something else, like
voyeurism via Emma Watson (she seems to use that word to describe
other things that have nothing to do with spying on people sexually ) , or
promotion a la Annie Lennox
when her entire brand has been focused on female empowerment and feminist values since the beginning of time?

Even her album release is discredited as unoriginal, and not innovative, citing that it was done before by many male artists.
Is it a bad thing that she is finally being bold and taking ownership of her stance as a feminist, because so many pop stars, including her, shunned the label in the past because of the harsh criticism they faced from supposed scholars?
Is it so bad that she decided to take a risk and release her album the way she did, sparking the conversation among other huge music presences for creative album marketing and releases?
Why do you feel that people are discrediting Beyoncé? and why do you feel that she should be discredited?
