Part 1
40.Outkast-Idlewild
this was a very tight race between Idlewild and Kingdom Come, but Idlewild won over in the end for being the overall better album. though I will say this is Outkast's weakest album, it's still great. people wrote it off right away as something different, but it grows on you a lot after every listen.best song on the album, "Hollywood Divorce", however the group gets almost outshined by guest rapper Lil Wayne. even the biggest Weezy hater couldn't deny that he has an outstanding verse on the song.
Best Songs
1.Hollywood Divorce feat. Lil Wayne and Snoop Dogg
2.PJ & Rooster
3.The Mighty O
39.Wolfmother-Wolfmother
yeah, Wolfmother aren't exactly original. they rip off Zeppelin like it's going out of style, but they have some very solid songs.
Best Songs
1.White Unicorn
2.Mind's Eye
3.Apple Tree
38.Incubus-Light Grenades
a week ago this album would of barely made it on. but I think it must of been Incubus' stellar(ha!) showing at KROQ's Almost Acoustic Christmas that sent me back to the album. as of right now, I like this album a lot more then "A Crow Left Of The Murder". "Dig" especially has hit written all over it.
Best Songs
1.Dig
2.Love Hurts
3.A Kiss To Send Us Off
37.Snoop Dogg-The Blue Carpet Treatment
this album came out the same day as "Kingdom Come", yet, sadly, didn't get even half of it's hype. this album is really so awesome, his best since Doggystyle. "Imagine" with Dr.Dre(and D'ANGELO!!) is one of hip-hop's best songs of 06. "Crazy" with Nate Dogg is an amazingly smooth song that shows Nate on his hook singing peak, "That's That" has the brilliant Coming To America sample, and "Think About It" is the hardest Snoop has rapped in years. only downfall is with 21 tracks there is bound to be some filler(namely "Beat Up On Yo Pads". a song about Little League Football). still, don't sleep on this album. Snoop worked his ass off on creating a great album, and it mostly paid off.
Best Songs
1.Imagine feat. Dr. Dre and D'Angelo
2.Think About It
3.Crazy feat. Nate Dogg
36.The Killers-Sam's Town
I originally didn't think much of this album, but it grew on me quite a bit every time I listened to it. I am starting to like it more then the debut album now. as you may notice, my three favorite songs from the album are all singles(or going to be) which goes to show what an amazing job the Killers are doing at picking them.
Best Songs
1.When You Were Young
2.Read My Mind
3.Bones
35.Justin Timberlake-Futuresex/Lovesounds
I know i'll get slagged for having this on, since he seems to be everyone's least favorite artist at the moment. but I would be lying to myself if I didn't put this on. mainly with the help of Timbaland(well, really Danja) timberlake makes a really great album. single "My Love" is probably my favorite pop single of the year. also the way T.I. rides the beat is unbelievable, as he shows off one of his best guest verses.
Best Songs
1.My Love feat. T.I.
2.Chop Me Up feat. Three 6 Mafia
3.What Goes Around
34.Nelly Furtado-Loose
I love this album. so does most of ATRL/PF. the end
Best Songs
1.Maneater
2.Say It Right
3.In God's Hands
33.Dixie Chicks-Taking The Long Way
I wasn't a huge fan of them when they first came out, but by the time Home came out I was sold. this album is even better, and with Rick Rubin, they make a great true country record. you of course know the whole backstory behind this album, so i'm not going to bore you by going over it again.
Best Songs
1.The Long Way Around
2.Lubbock Or Leave It
3.I Like It
32.Cat Power-The Greatest
I have to credit Mr. TC Watson for getting me into the great Chan Marshall. by constantly playing her music on
Half Hour Of Power, I went from being ehhhh about her, to loving her and eventually buying The Greatest in the summer. a very great album that everyone should check out.
Best Songs
1.The Greatest
2.Love & Communication
3.Living Proof
31.The Game-Doctor's Advocate
many people thought Game needed Dre for him to be successful. they were all proven to be very wrong once he released this awesome album. it also happens to be much better then The Documentary. yeah, Game still name drops, but he has improven quite a bit since the last album. highlights include "Compton" produced by Will.i.am(who has really turned out to be a great producer), "Remedy" produced by the almighty Just Blaze, and one of the greatest hip-hop songs i've heard all year in "Why You Hate The Game". Nas spits pure flames, Marsha Ambrosius of Floetry delievers a very beautiful hook, Game does well, and the overall grand production of this song by, once again, Just Blaze. if you are doubting him because of the whole No Dre production thing then look past it. as shown by Dre's mediocre beats on Kingdom Come, Game didn't need Dre in the first place.
Best Songs
1.Why You Hate The Game feat. Nas and Marsha Ambrosius
2.Remedy
3.Compton
so there is part 1 completed. I'll most likely post some side lists before I get to part 2, 30-21.
please comment, and if you want, predict what you think will be coming up
