Why is Rihanna so successful?
This is a follow-up thread to the Rihanna "has little talent" argument, which I disagree with.
However, I want to pose a question. If Rihanna is successful with such "little talent" what does that say about her peers? Rihanna has outsold most of her peers and still manages to get hits after hits without screaming on a track or doing octave xyz stuff. I mean, if she can do this with "little talent" while her peers struggle immensely, I think someone is lying about Rihanna's talent.

According to the hive in the other thread and that miley cyrus stan, she's talentless, but she has the best promo, calculated image and PR 
The truth is, it's because has become GLOBAL ICON. Her music is a quality pop/urban music and she is realest celebrity out there. She's just genuinely likeable.

comparing talent, LUCK favors taylor swift at least 10000x more than Rihanna, Rhi does rely on luck and many other 'abiities' as well.

Because she:
-Makes catchy music that changes as per the music trends
-Changes her image accordingly
-Has one of the most distinctive voices in pop
-Is attractive
-Is likeable

Because Rihanna is loved by the GP easy as that. Her music, style, and attitude are iconic.
Her success doesn't need to be questioned it's pretty obvious that she's talented.

But Rihanna's talent has very little to do with it. She just really good at marketing herself as a sex object and she has catchy music.

Great music, great videos, WW appeal, great looks too.
She works incredibly hard and always strives to make sure everything she puts out is quality. She's really the best out of all the current pop stars which is why she's so successful.

She's certainly the best as far as making pop music/hits goes. That's for sure.
But I don't think she's really the best as far as talent goes (though I am not saying she is not talented).
