Florence (+ the Machine) to Perform at the OSCARS
Quote:
Following up on her surprisingly decent performance at the Country Music Awards, Gwyneth Paltrow will take the stage at the Oscars, organizers announced on Friday. Ms. Paltrow, the newly minted legit crooner, Oscar winner and lifestyle guru we love to hate, will perform the nominated song “Coming Home” from her film “Country Strong,” singing and presumably playing guitar over her awards show finery.
Other performers to court the youth market include Florence of Florence and the Machine, who will sing “If I Rise” from “127 Hours” with its composer, A.R. Rahman, who’s also nominated for best score; and Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi, who will join Alan Menken on “I See the Light” from “Tangled,” the Disney animated film in which they star. (Mr. Levi is also the star of “Chuck.”) And then there’s the perennial, Randy Newman, who will sing “We Belong Together” from “Toy Story 3” without any help from anybody younger, sexier or relevant-ier.
