My 10 "What the &#&R were they thinking" Celebrity Moments of 2005!
Celebrities: this board wouldn't exist without them. But for every mistake we make, a celebrity makes double that. And this year a few celebrities had us thinking WTF? Maybe Kanye shouldn't have said "George Bush doesn't care about black people!" and maybe Martha Stewart: The Apprentice was never a good idea. But after long thought, I've considered 10 celebrity oops that had be thinking WTF? Even though I like most of these celebrities, these next 10 moments definitely could have any of us saying they should've never done that.
Let's begin with #10.
#10. Letting Scott Savol Make it to the top 5 on American Idol
The #10 moment isn't even anything the celebrity (well if you could call him that) did. Well, in a way maybe it was. Two years ago, Ruben Studdard won American Idol, and well not to be prejudice since I certainly ain't - but the man wasn't skinny. And neither was Scott Savol. Really though, weight or appearance had nothing to do with it. Scott Savol being in the top 32 - ok. Top 12 - scary at first. But surviving seven weeks!? America, WTF were we thinking? Unless his family phonejacked the lines, it was evident that somebody out there was voting for Scott - but why? After poor performances and really lackluster vocal ability, and the fact that he "got into a scuffle with his girlfriend" how could he make it to the top 5? We'll never know. But one thing's for sure. Three weeks before the finale, people finally woke up, and booted Scott from the show. That's probably a memory Scott would soon "savol."
Sadly enough though, when I saw the American Idols perform, Scott didn't do so bad. But let's move on..
#9. Jude Law and the Nanny...and I don't mean Fran Drescher
Let's face it. Most of know Jude Law for his bombs of a movie, yet Oscar worthy performances. But that was before 2005. 2005 was the year we knew Jude for another Oscar-worthy performance: sex in his bedroom. But not with hot fiance Sienna Miller. Jude, WTF were you thinking? I'm really no expert on Jude and the whole story, but I'll put it in laymen's terms. Jude was with a hot chick, Sienna. Sienna had a babysitter. Jude did it with the babysitter. And lost Sienna. BUT and even bigger mistake could be the fact that Sienna is once again talking to Jude. Call me an idiot, but if I were Sienna, I'd break that "law" - RIGHT IN HALF.
Jude Law and this next girl are somehow connected. Does anyone remember the boogy?
8. Ashlee Simpson Does SNL Again...Badly Again
Folks, I'll be the first to admit and you definitely know it: I AM (no pun intended) a huge fan of Ashlee Simpson. And I was one of the fans who immediately rushed behind her defense after her first SNL fiasco. I figured it was time to forgive her - all she did was lip synch. But who could forgive Ashlee after her biggest booboo this year? Deciding to go back to SNL again! Whether it was her father's decision in his path to dominating the pop world or a way for Ashlee to redeem herself, it wasn't a good decision. Sure "Boyfriend" is one of my favorite songs of the year, but that means diddly squat when it comes to performing the song live. Even before the music kicked on, Ashlee's stylist made the first mistake - picking out what she'd wear for the night. I could give two diddly squats about what anyone chooses to wear, but what Ashlee wore was something I couldn't even pass up. Ugly punk-wannabe outfit with dreadlocked hair? Cmon. And once the music started, everything went bland. Ashlee didn't do a bad job, but she sure didn't redeem herself. Maybe its time for MAD TV?
