It's Lady Gaga but not as you've seen before. This is the cover art for her intensely-anticipated second album Born This Way, which The Music Network can exclusively reveal.
The stark, grainy black and white image, which appears on TMN's cover this week, sees a gaunt, heavily made-up (and Photoshopped?), naked Gaga looking almost alien-esque. Given the album's themes of appearance, acceptance and sexuality, it's a confronting, attention-grabbing portrait.
While details of the cover art are yet to surface, the make up is identical to the Nick Knight photo shoot for the title track's cover art, which Gaga revealed on Twitter on February 9.
Gaga released her new single Born This Way last Friday night which was met with mixed reviews and many Madonna comparisons (hear the song here).
Released on May 23, the album will be Gaga’s second record proper, following on from her 2008 debut The Fame and its extended version The Fame Monster, which came out a year later and featured additional hits Alejandro, Bad Romance and Telephone (featuring Beyonce).
As for what fans can expect of the new album, Gaga has hardly been modest. In November, she told the crowd at a Polish concert it was going to be "the greatest album of this decade”.
She said: “The album's finished and it's ****ing really good... So whatever this is, whatever you just did for all of us... I promise to give you the greatest album of this decade, just for you."
