Like two mercenaries coming together to build on their mutual notoriety and string of massive hits, Slim Shady and RiRi have birthed the perfect beast.
Between Eminem’s legendary but reclusive rap status and Rihanna being one of pop music’s most consistent hit-makers of the past decade, the Monster tour launch drew an impressively panoramic cross-section of 60,000 fans
From family scenes of tweens with parents in tow to packs of twenty-something men and women to a middle-aged contingent who bought The Slim Shady LP when it first debuted in early 1999, there was a festive, communal energy around the stadium
With the sun setting in the distance, the show started with a short film with Eminem as a Hannibal Lecter-type character in an isolation chamber and Rihanna as his Clarice Starling, leading to the pair hitting the expansive stage to open with “Numb,” their collaboration from her 2012 album, Unapologetic
Impeccably paced and sequenced like a great DJ set, Eminem and Rihanna’s Monster tour more than lives up it its name, delivering an entertaining and engaging show that leaves fans of both acts well served and satisfied.
everyone who goes to see this legends together live is extremely lucky

Seven songs in, Eminem exited the stage and Rihanna launched into a 17-track solo set full of crystalline, non-Auto-Tuned vocals
Not since Madonna has a mainstream star owned her sexuality the way Rihanna did here, but the singer also remained playful and fun, using phallic missile graphics to accompany her "Rude Boy" pelvic thrusting.
Eminem and Rihanna's initial chart-buster "Love the Way You Lie" transitioned into Eminem's main solo set. Playing 20 songs culled across his career, the iconic Detroit rapper ran across the stage and contorted his body for emphasis, but this movement never overshadowed his superlative MC skills – undiminished, if not better than ever.
"The Monster" appropriately summed up the themes that link these seemingly disparate performers: Both, in their own distinct ways, often use their art to expose their private demons. This tendency made the event still feel a bit more rebellious, unpredictable and raw than the typical big-name stadium concert.

I wish they would've mixed their solo performances together. Rih feels like Eminem's opening act.

I agree. From what I've seen, it would have worked much better if they blended their songs together sorta like what Justin Timberlake & Jay Z did or Jay-Z & Beyonce.
I will say that the stage looks pretty great.

I have a feeling some of y'all just watch one clip and then negatively summarize the whole concert.

Billboard better praise Legend Em
Is billed as a co-headlining tour between the two music superstars, and the pair treated the show as if they were equals, starting and ending together. However, sharing the stage with Eminem is like playing one-on-one with LeBron James or acting with Daniel Day-Lewis. Eminem is, as he reminded everyone last weekend at Lollapalooza, one of the half dozen most compelling performers in music today.
That was evident from the outset of the show, which opens with a short Silence of the Lambs-inspired film that finds Sopranos star Michael Imperioli walking Rihanna down a San Quentin prison hall. As she saunters into a cell, just the back of Eminem’s head and trademark blonde hair appeared on the screen and the Rose Bowl crowd lost their collective minds.
There was a clear chemistry between them, especially on the between-song banter where Rihanna kept right up with Eminem. After he encouraged everyone to “Make Rihanna feel at home,” she answered right back, “Make some noise for this white mother****er,” getting a lot of applause and laughs
It’s hard to digest her pop polish when she’s on the same bill with someone as raw and intense as Eminem. Every time Marshal Mathers emerged on stage, he was a lightning rod for attention, like when he reappeared at the end of her set to join in on a stunning “Love The Way You Lie
with Rihanna singing the Dido “Thank You” refrain,” an anthemic “The Way I Am,” “Berzerk” -- it was one knockout performance after another. And his lightning speed delivery on “Rap God” was simply jaw-dropping
At one point Eminem said to the crowd, “I am under the impression there are a lot of people under the influence of an illegal substance,” drawing lots of cheers. Mathers got an even bigger pop when he followed by saying, “If not, how many of you are just ****ed up mentally? That’s why it feels like such a family
