Vote on your Top 10 countries in the world, in regards to culture, history, language, economy, climate, topography -- in other words, where you would most want to live or visit.



Notes: Countries must be recognized by the UN and most countries in the world; e.g. Hong Kong, Macau, Sicily, are not separate countries. If you happen to list an unrecognized nation in your list, it will be disregarded.

In regards to commonwealths, such as the United Kingdom, the individual constituents of them do count as separate nations; e.g. England, Wales, Scotland, N. Ireland are separate countries. If the UK is listed, it will be disregarded.

Hong Kong and Macau are considered special regions in China, but they are still a part of China. Maybe a comparison could be the US Virgin Islands or Puerto Rico -- they are still a part of the United States, although they are special districts / territories. The UK, meanwhile, is a more of a league, per se, of countries. England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland are still considered separate countries.

Let me get a list started

I've been in both Macao and Hong Kong and that's not what people in there would agree with.

"Macao" is the traditional Portuguese spelling. However since the transfer of sovereignty over Macau in 1999, the government of Macau considers both "Macao" and "Macau" to be acceptable English spellings of the name
