Will Britney/beyonce have more success than Mariah/Janet?
Will Britney and Beyonce have more succes in the 10s than Mariah Carey and Janet Jackson had in the 00s? or since Janet had her breakthrough in 1986 the question could also be 'will Britney and Bey (even tho her second decade hasnt really started ) be more successful on their second decade than Janet and Mariah? just wondering.
I didnt include single sales but they count too, now more than ever.

I think it all depends on how their next eras go. Their last eras were not flops, but they did underperform a bit.

I don’t think they’re comparable since single sales have overtaken album sales and it’s been like that for a while now. Overall, Britney has already eclipsed Janet and she'll eclipse Mariah soon.

Britney got another #1 album, two more #1 singles, sold 20 million records worldwide after three lackluster local performances, and got another $70 million-grossing tour. The album itself underperformed, strictly due to lack of promotion, but the era itself was a success.

Well, I feel like her singles did well but her album underperformed a great deal, where Beyonce's album sales were better, and her singles.....
I guess Britney did better all in all than Beyonce in their last eras though. I still don't know if they can or not, I wouldn't sway either way.

I can't tell who is getting shaded here, but I feel like all 4 should be offended somehow.

Oh.
In response to the OP, probably not album sales wise, but perhaps in single sales, impact, and influence (for those who continue to give good dance and vocal performances).

This poll is awful and needs to be closed immediately. And Beyoncé's career started in 1997.

IDK.
Britney's already fading, and her status as an album seller keeps dwindling w/each & every era. I doubt she'll be having any monster success anytime in the foreseeable future too.
Beyonce probably has one or two IASF-sized eras in her, so i guess we'll have to wait & see.

Beyoncé heavily promoted: American Idol, VMAs, BET Awards, Billboard Music Awards, Oprah Finale, Glastonbury, Le Grand Journal, Good Morning America, Macy’s July 4 Spectacular, X Factor France, The View, Jimmy Fallon, Piers Morgan, etc. (some very high-profile performances) and she had the same Target deal that helped Taylor Swift sell over a million with ‘Speak Now.’ She had great promo prior to the release week, during the release week, and afterwards.
Britney did two performances in the US during the release week and performed a 30-second medley of ‘Till The World Ends’ in May at the Billboard Music Awards and that was it. No promo outside the States whatsoever.

And Britney had probably the most effective form of promotion behind her. Radio exposure.

Britney is NOT fading (in response to a previous poster). She just needs another era where she actually puts in the effort to perform at her best again. Her name is so big she can easily get there, it all depends on what she wants to do at this point in her career. Beyonce won't have much more commercial success however she will continue to put on legendary performances which is better imho.

Well she's pretty much fading, on her own accord too it seems, which is unfortunate. I was hoping she could stay around longer.
As for Beyoncé, I hope you're wrong. It's hard to have legendary performances with flopping music.

You talk like she was getting Rihanna and Katy-type of radio exposure.

Right? 'I Wanna Go' barely cracked 100 million and just because her radio hits this era were bigger than usual, the success still wasn't massive.
