Hello everyone! And welcome to my new MC tournament, inspired by the Atlantic Hurricane Season naming lists. This game is similar to the ABC MC's from earlier this decade, but with a small difference - the letters Q, U, X, Y, and Z will not be used during sets, as the World Meteorological Organiation and National Hurricane Center do not use those letters in the naming lists.

The concept is simple - you guys will sign up with songs that correspond with the letters used for the naming lists, using artists who were either born during the use of the a particular list, or share their stage name with one of the names on the list for that year.

Each set will consist of 21 songs, with an eventual winner being selected. If your song loses, you are allowed to sign up with it again the next time the naming list rolls around. But there is a twist. Whenever a hurricane causes a lot of destruction and deaths, the WMO retires its name and replaces it. In this game, there will be some letters that have a hidden danger to them as they are the letters that the retired name or names from that season start with. If you sign up with a song, whose letter starts with the one that shares the starting letter with a retired hurricane or TS from the season the set represents, and you LOSE, the song is banned for good. For the sake of the game, it would be no fun to tell you guys what names were retired from 1979 (the year we are starting with) to present day, so if you want, do your research. Google is your friend. Another thing regarding retirement of names is that if a retired name happens to be the first name in an artist's stage name, then that artist will be banned permanently from the game too. So again, do your research. I'm only going to reveal the banned artists whose names correlate with retired storms prior to 1979.

The Top 4 from the the first five sets, and the top five from the sixth set, will be given the privilege of banning songs from future use, as long as they start with the letters of the 25 names that were retired prior to the 1979 modern introduction of naming. [/SIZE]


As previously stated we start with 1979. The six naming lists are reused every six years, so for this set, you will sign up with artists born in 1979, 1985, 1991, 1997 and so forth. For artists born before the modern naming change, just add six till you reach one of the years eligible. You can also sign up with artists who weren't born during this list's use if their name happens to appear in that year's list.

Hurricanes with those names were destructive enough to get retired prior to the 1979 introduction of modern naming. From 1953 to 1978, the lists were only female names. The 1979 introduction of male and female lists is why I started there.

So that's why those artists are banned - because they share their names with previously retired storms.
