2013 MTV Movie Awards Coming Sooner Than Usual
The 2013 MTV Movie Awards will broadcast live on Sunday, April 14, 2013. The awards show that's seen the likes of Russell Brand, Samuel L. Jackson, Will Smith and others taking hosting duties will be coming to you earlier than ever next year — and if that means we get a parody as hilarious as "Titanic: The Sequel" a few weeks earlier than usual, that's all the better, we say!
The April air date for next year's MTV Movie Awards ensures another thing as well — that the blockbusters and gut-busting comedies of 2012 won't be forgotten. Indeed, 2012 marked a banner year for Hollywood, seeing the release of the record-breaking superhero epic "Marvel's The Avengers," Christopher Nolan's trilogy-ending "The Dark Knight Rises," Ridley Scott's mind-bending space horror love letter "Prometheus," Seth MacFarlane's raunchy laugh-fest "Ted," and shirtless Channing Tatum's no-clothes-barred hit "Magic Mike."
Of course, 2012 is far from over. The sure-to-be dazzling "Cloud Atlas," from the makers of "The Matrix" trilogy, hits theaters at the end of October. James Bond makes his stunning return to the big-screen in "Skyfall" later this fall. Peter Jackson returns to Middle-Earth with the first of three "Hobbit" films. And that's not even mentioning a certain little vampire saga coming to a close in November.
With all of these films in play — as well as some of the coming year's other big releases, like "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" and "The Host" — April's 2013 MTV Movie Awards are sure to be a can't-miss affair for movie fans, as they always are.
